I have been reading The City of God by Augustine (I’m on Book 7) and he gives a strong argument on why the worship of gods found throughout the Roman Empire which had just fallen three years before should be rejected for the God of the Bible and Christianity. He paints a picture of the whole world outside of the nation of Israel in the OT being blind and groping in darkness because they had no direct revelation from the one true God. Many pagans tried to blame Christianity for the fall of Rome instead of acknowledging the failure of their mythological gods and Augustine destroys those arguments piece by piece. This video by Eric Metaxas gives one of the most compelling arguments I have ever heard on why there should be no life on earth much less anywhere else in the universe. The idea that life sprang from random chance is 100% impossible.
