I have been reading The City of God by Augustine (I’m on Book 7) and he gives a strong argument on why the worship of gods found throughout the Roman Empire which had just fallen three years before should be rejected for the God of the Bible and Christianity. He paints a picture of the whole world outside of the nation of Israel in the OT being blind and groping in darkness because they had no direct revelation from the one true God. Many pagans tried to blame Christianity for the fall of Rome instead of acknowledging the failure of their mythological gods and Augustine destroys those arguments piece by piece. This video by Eric Metaxas gives one of the most compelling arguments I have ever heard on why there should be no life on earth much less anywhere else in the universe. The idea that life sprang from random chance is 100% impossible.

“By the word of the LORD were the heavens made; And all the host of them by the breath of his mouth.”
‭‭Psalm‬ ‭33‬:‭6‬ ‭KJV‬‬

From our recent trip to the Sunshine State, proof of this truth…

In this clip, he doesn't go very deep into his reasoning for why life is statistically impossible as much as he makes a case for believers making a stand and getting the word out that advances in the sciences are leading us to faith rather than away from it.
