I often tell folks that I did not abandon KJV-Only due to intellectual persuasion but in order to get my family in a good church away from all of the loons!

This however, is an extreme that even mainstream KJV-Only types would have to concede as being indefensible!

Counterfeit King James Bibles

And here is my personal review on the article:

I took one look at the article and Proverbs 10:19 immediately came to mind.

When I see verbose websites written in small fonts, I pass.

Back in the day, this was THE SITE for "Bible Believers!" I just about had it as my "home page" when I first got on the internet in the 1990s and I was still hard-core KJVO (and using dial up to get online).

It has hardly changed since but I am not hearing any "MiDi File Hymns" like before.

We've talked about this page once or twice before. Not surprised; it first got my attention in 2004. (Looks like it, too.)

My very favourite part is probably the stupdest thing ever written:

Now the very worst of this battle of o-u-r vs. o-r comes when dealing with the only begotten Son of God, our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. The modern day counterfeiters have changed Saviour to Savior. They have given us a six-letter Savior in place of a seven-letter Saviour. In Bible numerics seven is the number of completeness, purity, and spiritual perfection. On the other hand six is the number of man which is earthly not heavenly. Every one has heard of 666. It has a bad connotation and is not highly esteemed in Bible numerics.

I call this kind of "reasoning" the Church of the Holy Horseshoe, because he's literally arguing that spelling "Saviour" with a U will save people from the deceptions of the Antichrist.

Around this time was basically the peak (nadir?) of KJV-onlyism's purity spiral, when they tried to outdo each other in moronic arguments to prove they were more "separated" or whatever.

Following such reasoning, you wonder why they just don't stick with the "Original 1611" and rail on all the liberal apostates who use the 1769 revision!

Seriously though, it was stuff like this that ultimately made me exit the "KJV-Only Chat!"
