The
apostles are part of the foundation upon which the Church was built.
Eph 2:19 Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God;
Eph 2:20 And are built upon the foundation of the
apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner
stone;
Paul proved his
apostleship by
“signs, and wonders, and mighty deeds” (2 Cor 12:11-12). When Jesus sent his apostles out, one of the powers given to them was
“casting out demons” (Matt 10:5-8). Jesus said the purpose of performing miracles was to
“confirm the word” (Mark 16:20).
The Bible never commands believers to perform
exorcisms, nor does it present exorcism as a common or routine practice for Christians. The ability to cast out demons was part of the
apostolic ministry and served to
authenticate the message of the gospel in the first century. There are so many fake healings and raisings of the dead on the internet that it is embarrassing for the Church to pretend these things are real. If you know of
anyone alive today that performs the miracles found throughout the ministry of Jesus and the apostles then by all means give us his name. The website “Got Questions” is more Reformed than IFB from what I have read and they agree with this.
What does the Bible say about casting out demons? Does the Bible instruct followers of Christ on how to cast out demons?
