It blantantly obvious that there are many turing away from "The Faith". While this isn't something that began recently, this modern era has influenced or hastened the departure.
What role do you believe theology plays in losing "The Faith". With the availability of information increasing at phenomenal rate, people are no longer confined to little groups that can easily be controlled with disinformation. Its difficult realizing you've been lied to for years and just how stupid you were for actually believing the lie you've been sold. Thank God, I realized this more 20 years ago. I count it as a blessing. It actually drove me to study and learning. It forced me to make what I believe my own.
Yet, I am well aware that many just abandon the faith. Peter talked of a "trial of faith". My trial came in the form of theology. A challenge to embrace the truth or abandon it.
What role do you believe "theology" plays in turning people from their religion to the point of abandoing the faith altogether?
and what message would you give these people?
