Trump 2016

I saw a great "meme" today that sums up how I feel about illegal immigration and possibly the Syrian refugees (depending on how they're handled):

Immigration Without Assimilation is Invasion.

In other words, if you're going to come here, assimilate and become Americans, loyal to America.  If you can't do that, don't come here, because we should boot you out.

The only two potential nominees I hear saying that are Cruz and Trump.

Kind of how we assimilated with the natives? We would all be eating tree bark with prophet.

Or are you admitting that we invaded?

Yes, we definitely invaded.  We had help, though, from some of the existing tribes.

I agree. Maybe Mr. Obama will apologize for us.  ;)

Carson drops the "Jesus" name around and all the Christians begin cheering and fawning.  Doctrine be damned, because my IFB-X friends either don't know or don't care that Carson and his wife (and his mother) are life-long members of the Seventh Day Adventist church.

SDAs used to be a cult when I was growing up IFB.  Maybe things have changed?

Look, ain't nobody IFB except IFB, ok.

Never said anybody was IFB if they weren't.  My point was that my IFBx friends think Carson is the next presidential messiah, without regard to any SDA doctrine that is not compatible with their own.  Religious affiliation is a poor predictor as to who will be an effective president.

I had several SDA friends in California.  There aren't many people who I can say I'm 100% sure have the Holy Spirit and humbly display it all the time, but I can say that about one of my SDA friends.
This doesn't eliminate their religion's cult status, the false doctrine they espouse, nor the fact that the leadership in SDA are habitual liars.

I like a few Muslims, so I give their religion a pass?

If your friends weren't recruited after salvation (par for the SDA course), then there would be no way that they possessed God's Spirit.

You are better than this childish reasoning.
America doesn't need another Romneycarsoncultliar president.

Trump is popular, because he is a nationalist who speaks his mind, and America is hungry for a nationalist leader.

Earnestly Contend

I'd like him for VP. Let him prove himself a little more.

Well, when I said "we", I meant some of America's original European settlers, to whom some of us may be related.  None of those people are alive today.

My family, did not invade.  And my family doesn't have any blood ties to the original invaders.  A couple generations ago, my side of the family immigrated and assimilated.  My wife immigrated and assimilated.  So we don't need anyone to apologize for us.

Cal Thomas has an interesting take similar to what JustJohn said awhile back when he compared Donald Trump to "Lonesome Rhodes" who is played by Andy Griffith in the 1957 movie, "A Face in the Crowd."  I did a search and watched the movie online.

"As he becomes intoxicated with a beverage clearly not the milk of human kindness, Rhodes brags: ?I?m not just an entertainer. I?m an influence, a wielder of opinion, a force a force!?

Later as his political and cultural demise approaches, Rhodes says this about his audience when he thinks the microphone is off (Jeffries has kept it on to expose him as a fraud and make amends for creating a monster): ?Those morons out there? Shucks, I could take chicken fertilizer and sell it to them as caviar. I could make them eat dog food and think it was steak. You know what the public?s like? A cage of guinea pigs. Good night, you stupid idiots. Good night, you miserable slobs. They?re a lot of trained seals. I toss them a dead fish and they?ll flap their flippers.?

Sometimes I wonder if Trump isn't playing some of his followers like a fiddle.

Until they figure out how to paint all Christians as dangerous. Not like it would be the first time.

Yes, that's the danger inherent to the theory, and the rationale (of Moore et al) behind creating a long tolerant leash for religious liberty.

I can't believe someone would take what Trump said and extend it to peaceful Christian worship!!!

Trump was talking about radicalized Islam worship calling for the killing of US Citizens by those in attendance. They should be shutdown. A so called "radicalized Christian" church calling for killing of US Citizens should be shut down as well.

Hear! Hear!

People don't like to read about the Islamic Centers in France. There is a huge difference between those and churches.

Hey! Cal is stealing my stuff!  ;) But it is a good read with very valid points and yes Biscuit, I do indeed believe Trump is playing many like a fiddle. And eventually Hillary may be calling the tune for all of us as a result.

Thomas:

"Mr. Trump?s braggadocio about how he plans to bully Russian President Vladimir Putin and free American hostages held by Iran, even before he is sworn in as president, excites his supporters, but lacks any credible specifics. Perhaps Mr. Trump thinks the force of his personality is greater than Russian weaponry or the coming Iranian nuclear bomb. If so, he should not be allowed anywhere near the Oval Office."

"Mr. Trump is a chameleon, having held contradictory positions on various issues over the years as it suits him. He fits the dictionary.com definition of demagogue: ?A person, especially an orator or political leader, who gains power and popularity by arousing the emotions, passions, and prejudices of the people.? That?s Lonesome Rhodes. That?s also Donald Trump."

...the Secretary of Treasury [State] and the Attorney General will invalidate all visas issued to Iranian citizens for future entry into the United States, effective today. We will not reissue visas, nor will we issue new visas, except for compelling and proven humanitarian reasons or where the national interest of our own country requires. This directive will be interpreted very strictly.

President Jimmy Carter, April, 1980

The funny thing is that Trump would be even more popular than he is now if he actually spoke that way.  He'd be saying the same exact things, only in a "sophisticated" tone of voice.

The Truth About Snopes

It is run by a husband and wife team with no background in investigation using Google.  A simple review of their "fact-checking" reveals a strong tendency to explain away criticisms towards liberal politicians and public figures while giving conservatives the hatchet job. Religious stories and issues are similarly shown no mercy.

Not only that, but what I posted was a direct quote from Carter.  How can you Snopes a direct quote?
