then you are either lying now or you were lying then.....
LOL, I'm not lying in either case.
did you or did you not tell abcaines in another thread.....
Here's that thread. I'll summarize it. My earliest memories are of both the Pentecostal and RLDS churches, but I knew of no real difference in them because I was only a child. My parents started attending the local Baptist church when I was 10 years old. I didn't start paying attention until I was well into high school. So I didn't grow up RLDS or Mormon, and there are vast differences in the groups. They don't have the same Scriptures or doctrines. The RLDS (Community of Christ, now) are not Mormons, and vice versa. They're nothing alike.
I only learned of their histories and doctrines many years later, because I researched and studied them for the sake of a sweet and beautiful girl I was dating in college. A Proverbs 31 woman if there ever was one.
I saw her in a commercial years later. She devoted herself to working with children who because of physical deformities had speech impedements, and was featured in a United Way commercial.
Later I married a woman who was devoted to herself, but she had the right doctrine...mostly.
I grew up Bapticostal. There is no shred of Mormonism or RLDS staple in my thinking. I don't even have the smell of them on me. The only reason it would occur to anyone at anytime that I might have been influenced by them is because I volunteer the fact that as a young child I attended with my parents, and they grasp at that when they're losing arguments. You aren't the first.
If there is any likeness at all between Pentecostal Charismania and the churches that sprang from the LDS movement, it's in their focus on extra-biblical revelation, works, free will, and Zionism.
RLDS.... as in the mormon group that stayed loyal to joseph smith and remained in independence missourri after other mormons... the LDS... moved off to utah with brigham young?........... regardless of the label they wear they are all mormons.... a church started by the scammer joseph smith... who was miffed the masonic lodge rejected him for membership..... ...
The split was over who was to take the Presidency after the assassination of Joseph Smith, Jr. Was it to be Young or Smith's son, Joseph Smith III? One group went to Utah, the other went back to Independence, Missouri. The group that was loyal to the actual teachings and practices of the first Smith was the group that went to Utah. The reorganized church stripped itself of the Mormon trappings to be allowed back into Missouri.
Yeah, I knew what you meant when you said, "Mormon." Like I said, you aren't first one to throw that in my face. I typically counter by exposing the ignorance in those who attempt it.
and isn;t independence missouri where you live now?...........
Yes it is.
Here's a pic I submitted to a contest sponsored by the local paper. I purchased the old photo of the Jail House from the historical society and employed that old "rephotography" technique. Frank James spent some time there.
Here's a photo that includes the Truman home.
The spire of the Community of Christ Temple is visible from the Bingham-Waggoner estate. (This is the pic you wanted to see.)
This one's a publicity photo we took for the local community theatre production of "Harvey," by Mary Chase...(lol. I always
chuckle when I say "Mary Chase.") We set up in one of the retro diners on the square. You can see the historical county courthouse in the background.
Oh, and if the pic reminds you somewhat of that "Nighthawks" painting, that was the vibe we were going for.
Anyway, let me know if you ever come to town, and I'll show you around.
i know a lot about mormons.... they have a huge presence here in hawaii..... i know them to be among the most dishonest and 2 faced people i have ever met... .. i heard someone who had tried to work with them before say... "you can take a boy away from the mormons... but you will never take the mormon out of the boy"...... .. you seem to be living proof of that......
