I will mock when you force others to live to a standard which isn't  biblical. (Insert random Luther insult here)

Col 2:16 Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day. 17 These are a shadow of the things that were to come; the reality, however, is found in Christ. 18 Do not let anyone who delights in false humility and the worship of angels disqualify you. Such a person also goes into great detail about what they have seen; they are puffed up with idle notions by their unspiritual mind. 19 They have lost connection with the head, from whom the whole body, supported and held together by its ligaments and sinews, grows as God causes it to grow.
20 Since you died with Christ to the elemental spiritual forces of this world, why, as though you still belonged to the world, do you submit to its rules: 21 ?Do not handle! Do not taste! Do not touch!?? 22 These rules, which have to do with things that are all destined to perish with use, are based on merely human commands and teachings. 23 Such regulations indeed have an appearance of wisdom, with their self-imposed worship, their false humility and their harsh treatment of the body, but they lack any value in restraining sensual indulgence.

It's just like I said early on in the thread, there's no real desire for dialogue and mutually respectful discussion.

Are you friggin' serious???  A "mutual respectful discussion "???? Chris, you are one of the most obnoxious people on this forum, is this what you mean when you disagree with Rsc???  "Mutually respectful "?? Constantly name calling?? Obtuse??? Go back over your conversations you have had and show where you  were  mutually respectful with RSC

You still didn't address any of the "specific" issues that you begged and begged for.  It goes to show your character.  Full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.  A blowhard.

This is the reason we are to have the mind of Christ. We will never be holy except to be fully surrendered to Him. On this point we all fail in some way, whether fundy or freebird.

Wrong thread. ;)

By the by, you ought to be careful when divorcing "walking in the Spirit" from the practical reality of progressive sanctification, which indeed is a characteristic of true antinomianism.

I didn't divorce anything and I don't reject progress. I just don't think having my "I don't do this or that" check list filled out qualifies as progress. The unsaved man can quit drinking and fornicating and cheating and lying but it will not move him one step closer to God. The same is true of a saved man who removes those things by his own strength rather than by the power of Christ.

I want to walk closer to/with Him each day which will bring progress. Or I could fool myself into thinking that by progressively eliminating fleshly things in my life I will get to walk closer to Him. It is really a cart/horse discussion.

I tried the line 'em up and knock 'em down route. It didn't get me any closer to my Savior.  Then I decided to just walk with Him. The more focus I give to Him the less I care about what I can and cannot not do here. And now I am enjoying the journey, watching Him work and move in me and through me.

I do care about immorality. Because it separates me from Him.

Just a closer walk with Thee,
Grant it, my own moral fortitude, is my plea,
Daily walking close to Thee,
Let it be, dear Lord, let it be.

Continually focusing on the sin (sensual) is fleshly IMO. The message then is that it is up to me to stop doing or start doing to be right with God. The promise is that when we are right with God (walking in the Spirit) we will start doing or stop doing in His strength.

Just as He gets all the credit for my salvation He deserves all the credit for my sanctification. God is a jealous God and will not share His Glory. Certainly not with my dirty rag efforts.

so....... if a person agrees with you on all but one of those points...... even fighting on your side the majority of the time .......but stands fast in the firm belief that you have erred on one of these issues....... is that person still a freebird and a heathen?.... ???..... ...... do we get any fundy points for being in agreement with you 90% of the time?........  ???

First, what a joy to see you posting again sister.  I've continued to pray for you.

Secondly, a freebird, even in the most pejorative sense possible, may certainly still be saved.  It's not my job to determine who is saved, so I wouldn't call them a heathen.

Third, to your central point, of percentage of agreement with another Christian, I can't even agree with myself  100% of the time. ;)  Seriously though, I disagree with my own pastor on some issues, and we get along just fine.  I'm sure that in the real world, were I to rub elbows with many of the freebirds on here that we'd get along just fine.  But there are certain personalities that will always rub me wrong, Christian or not, and a couple on here fit that bill.  When people mock for fun, and want nothing more than to argue, rather than discuss, then when discussion is offered they act like Pee-Wee Herman, well, they'll get the respect that PeeWee gets.

But it's your job to tell them what they should or shouldn't do.

See, we've been getting along fine.  Why the needling line of questioning?  I'd prefer to not go there.  Just because we disagree about the implications of the text doesn't mean we have to have animosity towards one another for those differing practices.

Excellent way of describing it.

I suspect everything we do for God in the flesh by trying to follow "the rules" -- yes, all the wonderful and holy things and all the restraint from doing unholy things -- will be burned up as those dirty rags.  The only thing that will remain is what the Spirit did in us and through us.

Unless the Lord builds the house,
They labor in vain who build it;
