Texas is offering an excellent "story problem" for voting one's conscience.

Some argue that you should for vote for a Christian.

Others argue that you should vote for a person who holds correct policies.

Talarico claims to be a Christian

Paxton does not and he is aligning with good policies

Is this really a difficult choice?

I just had this conversation with a coworker the other day. He was teasing me, as he is a moderate to center right democrat, about Vivek Ramaswamy (running for Ohio’s governor). Ramaswamy is not a Christian, but a Hindu, and my coworker was yanking my chain that I could not vote for him in good conscience. I told him point blank that I could easily vote for a non-Christian who has the right policies over a person who claims to be a Christian, but governs from a policy perspective that is not actually biblical.

For me it is not difficult.
I always vote MY conscience.
If the choice is between a candidate who espoused wicked policies ( abortion, trans, etc) but claims to be Christian vs a candidate who espoused righteous policies (closed border, balanced budget, liberty, etc) but does NOT claim to be Christian, then I always vote for the righteous one.
Biblically: I believe we are to oppose the obvious wolves in sheep's clothing.

I’m not sure that has happened.
However much has been postured about having a moral clause or standard in making the choice.

The standard has never been clearly stated but not holding to
said standard has been criticized.
