I saw an usher, a couple singers  & a keyboard player wearing a hat.

Every week & every service this summer we have had traffic jams and packed buildings.

I saw my 10 year old son make up the fourth part of our quartet as the boy tenor & do a great job!

Sounds like a Chicago Cubs game.  :)

Funny....last week my wife & I & my son with his wife left church & in 20 minutes we were walking up the new Braves ballpark, all wearing the same clothes for both church & the game. So ye, that worked. We just needed shades & 2 of us a hat.

Weren't your suit and tie uncomfortable for the game? ;)

How can this be two weeks in a row same offering.  We must be doing something right.

Ok, this was a few years ago. This is my dad and me and the boys. It's three different years in the 90s. Not necessarily in chronological order.

Do you have any deacon board pics from the late 60's or early 70's in the auditorium before it was doubled?  I did notice that many in the third pic are now in heaven---Boardway, Huckins, Mitziga,, Pearson, Crutchfield---good men.  Also, I didn't realize that  Webster Stark was a deacon?  I thought that if you were an employee of HB then you couldn't be a deacon, or maybe this pic was taken after he retired from HBGS.

Only Full-time employees were barred from the Deacon Board, part time and volunteer were ok.

These pics were done by Bob Auclair, I do not believe he was doing this in the old half of the old building. I believe I have some black and whites that are not very good.

I see Jeff Peach who I've known for 30+ years.
I don't know you or your dad  8)

Dick Kennedy used to be skinny back then!

I believe the final number was 117 people baptized in Lake Michigan last night from our church.

Two week ago I was in a church and heard a man speak who is African and a pastor in Zambia. He told some amazing stories but when he was asked what the biggest hindrance to people getting saved in his country his immediate answer was traditions. He said that so many people are so bound by their traditions and what their ancestors taught and believed that they will not listen to anything different.

To paraphrase a statement: Traditions (old paths) can be a wonderful servant but makes a terrible master.

So true.  Years ago I was asked to visit someone's grandfather.  He was Japanese.  Very nice man who invited me in.  He was very gracious as I explained the gospel to him.  In fact I visited him twice.  He refused to believe the gospel as he said it would be an insult to his parents, as he and his family were Buddhists.

One a side note, this man was interred in a camp in California during WWII.  He showed me the letter he received from President George H.W. Bush apologizing and a check for 20K.  Less than 2 miles from this man was another man who was on the USS Nevada on December 7, 1941.  He too refused to believe but not because of tradition.

Sooooo, is this the group of "yes men" that allowed FBCH to go in the wrong direction, or is this the group of men that stood with the pastor and saw 1000s come to Christ?  :)

Exactly what I was thinking.

I thought the same thing when I asked the question.
