I don't care for Trump or McCain but no one is a bigger narcissist than Trump. Not sure it's possible.

And where is his consistent record of conservatism? His "putting his money where his mouth is" is a big concern considering where many of his past campaign donations have gone! He is a siren song for many who are rightly angered that he will never satisfy.
I am a pretty informed guy and can never remember hearing of the charge against McCain you brought up and POW's. I did a quick google search and the first results I see are from Alex Jones, WND and dailykos. Not saying there isn't anything there but I wouldn't believe it from
those sites. Now I would believe it if Ann Coulter said it. She disdains McCain and I would have expected she would have brought it up if true but I don't remember her ever making any such claim so I am respectfully doubtful at this point.
When I said that Trump puts his money where his mouth is I was referring specifically to when it comes to supporting the military. I'm surprised you don't remember McCain thumbing his nose at missing POW's when there was massive evidence that many unlike himself were still being held captive in Viet Nam and even Korea. Here is one link.

I wanted to take this on separately. The reason I must not have heard about it is because as the author himself stated, the "media is covering it up". Now the media, who liked McCain and his "straight talk express" during the primaries, turned on him big time during the general election. There was much discussion about it. Remember the NY Times going after him about an affair that had no basis in fact and other attacks?
So why did this story not get much traction? It was not first printed in The American Conservative in 2010 as the link here points to. Instead, it was first printed in The Nation, a decidedly left of left magazine in 2008 as McCain was running for president. It was written by Sydney Shanburg who was an editor at the NY Times and covered the Vietnam War for the NYT. In 1975 he wrote that Cambodia "couldn't be anything but better off with the US leaving". In just months he would see the folly of his comments as he saw the Khmer Rouge Communists turn Cambodia into "The Killing Fields", the title of the movie based oh his book. They killed 2 million Cambodians.
Schanburg later quit the NY Times and went to work for Penthouse, then Village Voice and The Nation. He was a liberal by any stretch of the imagination. This is relevant because the story did not catch on in the main stream media. So either it was a mass conspiracy that they didn't want to go after McCain or there wasn't much truth to the story.
I found this quote today in regards to Trump by Ann Mills-Griffiths, president of the National League of POW/MIA families, a nonprofit group that supports families of American troops held as prisoners of war and those missing in action:
“Sen. McCain was a prisoner of war who came home with honor but also continued to serve the nation and certainly the cause of America’s veterans returned and unreturned,†Mills-Griffiths said in an interview. “We all need to be grateful for those who did serve with honor.â€

If you go to the original article on The Nation it will be preceded by a few comments back and forth from competing notables on the subject including Schanberg. Note the following comment from another lib:
"It was extremely disturbing to see The Nation provide space to Sydney Schanberg alleging that John McCain was part of a conspiracy to suppress information about POWs left behind in Vietnam. That would mean that John Kerry and Bill Clinton were also part of the conspiracy, not to mention the Pentagon and the State Department.
Having made more than fifty trips to Vietnam, beginning in 1975, I think the only reality of this story is as evidence of how hard it is for the United States to lose a war.
I feel no less a desire than The Nation to ensure that McCain is not our next president, but such an article is Swiftboat revisionism with the endorsement of the country’s leading progressive publication.

I just don't find enough credibility on the story. My opinion.
