Take you time. I generally find time for things important to me.

Hence, the inordinate amount of time you spend "arguing your point of view" here with "more enemies than friends". Like I said before, you may be mentally ill if this is what you define as "important to you".....

I generally work in front of a computer all day, evening and sometimes.... a large part of the night. I can usually multi-task rather well. I try to be one of the best at what I do. Consider me an amateur if you like....

I've been on the this forum from the beginning. There are posters that have been here less time and have more posts. One of them is probably our most popular IFB. Use the same standard you've set above.... on him..... ;)

I realize you'll need some help. By all means, use your extensive connections to run it by the "best minds" in the IFB business.

Heh, heh, heh! You are funny! Since I pastor a church full time and help friends in the ITSP world, I have things to do. As to my "extensive connections" in the "IFB business", you are about to receive a rude awakening.
Translation. I don't really work as hard as everyone else does who actually works a full time job. This is witnessed by the fact I actually HAVE TIME.... to work a part time job on the side.

That being said, I should have my summary done by Friday night.

Good.

Thank you for your confidence, Brother; but, while I do believe I can be objective on any topic of debate, I don't think I can be objective to the character of your opponent. He has proven himself to be dishonest, unethical, and very prone to exaggeration. He has zero credibility with me. I do not trust him as far as I could throw a piano.

At least you'll admit you can't be objective. To be honest. I don't think I've ever meet a IFB that can be "objective" about anything IFB. Your problem isn't with me. Your problem is with the truth. There is no value to be found in being a IFB. None. Nada. Nothing. It really sad what you people find value in.....

Thank you for proving my point. That was easy.

Green Beret, you are wasting your time my friend. This clown has already set the stage to accuse you of getting all your arguments from fellow IFBs. In a sense, he has already conceded defeat, but he'll not give you the credit for blowing his silly little arguments out of the water. In his mind, you'd have to rely on a network of friends to win this debate. Apparently he has never met a man who can think for himself, not even in the mirror.

I'm not going to do any such thing.....

I do have a logical question.... If you're so good at thinking for yourself..... then why call yourself after a particular group of people?

Duly noted.

...why call yourself after a particular group of people?

I call myself an American because I want to identify with those born in America.

I call myself a Christian (don't you?) because I want to identify with those who follow Christ.

I call myself a Baptist because that is the most recent name, among many, by which those are known who, in my humble opinion, have continued in the Apostles doctrine since the time of Christ. I want to identify with this group of Christians.

I call myself Independent because I want to further identify with those Baptists who are not affiliated with a convention or an association.

I rarely use the term Fundamental in describing myself, but when I do it is to identify with those who hold to the fundamentals of the faith as I see it.

I call myself Citadel because I want to identify with the greatest military college in the United States.

With all due respect.... I don't believe those comparisons are particularly an apples to apples explanation... and I never questioned some of those distinctions. I call myself a North Carolinian for a few reasons. Yet, I would never claim this compares to a distinctly religious affiliation.

I've said enough. I'll share the rest in the debate.

There you go again. If you are going to translate something, you should know the language. It is obvious you are clueless about that which you speak. It is equally obvious that it doesn't take much effort to engage in your form of "translating".

To illustrate my point, I'll provide this example:

christundivided said:
I generally work in front of a computer all day, evening and sometimes.... a large part of the night. I can usually multi-task rather well. I try to be one of the best at what I do.

Translation: "I believe that the wages for what I do (probably an hourly clerk typist) is so low that it justifies me stealing from my employer by posting here on the FFF instead of doing the work for which I am being paid. I try to justify it by being a pious gas bag and saying I'm trying to be the best I can be by multi-tasking."

See, that was easy. Sadly, my translation is probably more accurate than yours.

Boy, if that is the kind of stellar logic you are going to display in the debate then CoT and Ransom are right. This is going to be a waste of my time.

Oh well, too late. I'm committed. I'll shred you the rest in the debate.

You can back out any time you like. It wouldn't surprise me at all.

Ransom is just mad because I hurt his little Calvinist feelings.

Funny... I haven't stole anything from anyone. I've been "on salary" for almost 20 years. I don't draw an hourly rate and I work far more hours than required. In fact, My boss has already given me more than 2 weeks of "comp time" this year..... that I haven't even taken yet.

Enjoy your full time job today.... while you work your part time job.... "on the side." At least Paul would admit

2Co 11:8  I robbed other churches, taking wages of them, to do you service.

What? No pay-per-veiw?? You're too generous.

We've got us some good pre-debate trash talking going on.

Can't wait to see who's gonna get the smackdown laid upon them.

Has anyone started a betting pool yet? Admin, is that even allowed? :D

Exactly...Like when the Samoan Brothers took on the boys from New Zealand...whatever their names were.  They'd be hitting each other over the head with chairs even before the match began!

Ha! I tried to pay someone $10 and they never got back to me on that :)

Well, since I can't modify your karma, I'll just have to give you....

Also, if no one ever claimed that $10.00, can I have it??  ;D  8) (J/K)

Well, I must be stupid.

INDEPENDENT

I am a member of a Southern Baptist Church in voluntary cooperation with the Rio Grande Valley Baptist Association, the Texas Baptist Association, and the Southern Baptist Convention.

However, as one of the Baptist Distinctives is "Autonomy of the local church" (autonomy is just a big word that means "independent") we, as with all SBC congregations, are "Independent."

FUNDAMENTAL

We believe the Fundamentals of the Faith.
1. The Deity of our Lord Jesus Christ (John 1:1; John 20:28; Hebrews 1:8-9).
2. The Virgin Birth (Isaiah 7:14; Matthew 1:23; Luke 1:27).
3. The Blood Atonement (Acts 20:28; Romans 3:25, 5:9; Ephesians 1:7; Hebrews 9:12-14).
4. The Bodily Resurrection (Luke 24:36-46; 1 Corinthians 15:1-4, 15:14-15).
5. The inerrancy of the scriptures (Psalms 12:6-7; Romans 15:4; 2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20).

BAPTIST

As our name "First BAPTIST Church" implies, we are Baptist and thus accept the Baptist Distinctives.

B Biblical Authority
A Autonomy of the Local Church
P Priesthood of the Believers
T Two Ordinances of the Church
I Individual Soul Liberty
S Saved and Baptized Church Membership
T Two Offices of the Church
S Separation of Church and State

However, the charges made against us are either unfounded or stated in ignorance. Let's take a look.

1. IFBs take pride in living a  "separated" life.
Not sure what you mean by "separated life" but you then quote some verses dealing with law keeping. No law keeping at our church. Just a bunch of people trying to keep the Great Commandment to Love God, and Love One Another.

2.  When someone messes up.... its not because of the IFB system of beliefs.....its just a very small exception and its ALL that individual's fault.
So, when I sin, as I do, daily, it is not really my fault? It is the fault of my church? All of them? Or just the leadership? Why would anyone who truly knows the Lord and loves Him want to blame his sin on others?

3. They've taken the "name" of a slave.
We were going to call our church "The Church of Christ" but that name was already taken, oddly enough by a group that is nothing of the sort.

Besides we didn't call ourselves "Baptists." That was done by our enemies, as a term of derision. And, of course, our motto is "Christian by conversion, Baptist by conviction."

But if loving the Lord, and loving His people, and being faithful in the assembling of ourselves together with them makes me "stupid" - so be it.

"We are fools for Christ, but you are so wise in Christ! We are weak, but you are strong! You are honored, we are dishonored!" 1 Corinthians 4:10.

Man, by the sounds of that response, I must have struck a nerve about you stealing from your boss man by trolling here instead of doing the work for which he's paying you a salary.

If what you say is true, I wonder how much of that comp time he would give you if he knew you what you were doing while you should have been working?

Care to tell us where you work so we can let him know? Didn't think so.

Now, I'm thinking you are as much like Jimmy Carter as you are like Peter Ruckman because there you go again! Speaking about something of which you know nothing AND twisting scripture to make it fit your wicked imaginations.

Do you need me to school you on the real meaning of that passage or will you just ignore it? That's a rhetorical question because I believe you know what it is.

You see, I actually, by God's grace, have been allowed to live my life in the context of that passage. What about you?

I grow tired of poking the bear..... You got me. I'm wounded. I'll just roll over and let you finish mauling me....

For Your Information..... No one can do much of anything anymore..... without your boss knowing about it. I don't expect you to understand the complex nature of this digital world..... but suffice it to say..... Someone is watching everyone.... and I'm not talking about the NSA. I've reviewed audit logs for many years. I could tell you stories you wouldn't readily accept. In the corporate world.....even auditors.... get audited.

Now, I'm thinking you are as much like Jimmy Carter as you are like Peter Ruckman because there you go again! Speaking about something of which you know nothing AND twisting scripture to make it fit your wicked imaginations.

I'm pretty sure.... you're no Ronald Reagan.

Nope. I've never robbed a church by taking wages from someone else...... I have known a few IFB "pastors" that got kicked out of a job due to the fact they were spending more time preaching at other churches....... than the local church they where supposedly "called" to do service. I think they tired to say it was some type of "evangelism".

Hi Thomas...... How you been doing? Did you ever find out who was writing all those KJV defense articles and slapping your name on them? I hope you set them straight. I'm sure you're upset over it.

I suspect my opponent in the debate will take much the same course of action you've taken in your response. Its not something I haven't heard many many times. I'll deal with him and then answer your response if I have anything else to say.

I will point out.... that is rather confusing how your attribute the "badge" Baptist to an enemy. I don't think "you guys" have your story straight. At every turn you want to deny your "birth" from The Reformation...... and then turn right around and claim you're roots go all the way back to Christ. Sorry if I can't help to be unimpressed with such "fussy" logic. Then again..... "you people" have always wanted things "your way" or not at all. This attitude is rather distinctly "Baptist".... Modernly speaking... of course.

christundivided said:

Wrong again. Particular Baptists were formed in the 1630s coming out of, primarily, the Church of England. Surely someone as obviously omniscient as you has heard of Henry Jacob, John Lathrop and Henry Jessey?
and then turn right around and claim you're roots go all the way back to Christ.
Yes. Christianity began with and goes all the way back to Christ. Oh, and the correct spelling is "your." I am amazed somebody as obviously superior to everyone else on the BB still can't seem to master 4th grade English grammar.
Sorry if I can't help to be unimpressed with such "fussy" logic.
I'm sorry I confused you. But it seems to happen quite often. You seem easily confused.
Then again..... "you people" have always wanted things "your way" or not at all. This attitude is rather distinctly "Baptist".... Modernly speaking... of course.
Sorry, but wrong again. I want things Christ's way. And you?
