Would you pastors object to being called "brother" instead?

Then you read Paul's epistles.  Paul identifies himself as the author.  It's what Paul says.  Occasionally, he identifies what he says as what pleases the LORD or what the LORD commands, but the rest of his letters are just what they are -- letters from Paul.  We learn a lot about the early church from the letters, and how Paul wanted things to be.  But I don't take everything Paul says as "This is what the LORD says..." like you see in books like Deuteronomy.

If you require the phrase"This is what the Lord says.." before every statement, to consider it God's word' you have a very little Bible.

"All Scripture is inspired of God..." Did you forget about that?

Paul, speaking from the authority of God, through inspiration said, "2 Thessalonians 3:14 "Take special note of anyone who does not obey our instruction in this letter. Do not associate with them, in order that they may feel ashamed."

Paul distinguished his teachings as God-verified "2 Corinthians 4:2 Rather, we have renounced secret and shameful ways; we do not use deception, nor do we distort the word of God. On the contrary, by setting forth the truth plainly we commend ourselves to everyone?s conscience in the sight of God."

Peter said of Paul's writings and the other apostles "?This is now, beloved, the second letter I am writing to you in which I am stirring up your sincere mind by way of reminder, that you should remember the words spoken beforehand by the holy prophets and the commandment of the Lord and Savior spoken by your apostles? (2 Pet 3:1)"

Peter specifically identified Paul as one of them in chapter 4

ALL Scripture is "The word of the Lord..."

Paul said that to Timothy, referring to scripture, not to his own letters.

So, you are going to ignore Peter's declaration?

Paul was certainly aware he was writing the very words of God.

?If anyone thinks he is a prophet or spiritual, let him recognize that the things which I write to you are the Lord?s commandment. But if anyone does not recognize this, he is not recognized? (1 Cor 14:37)

You mean 2 Peter?  Absolutely.  Peter was dead before Paul's letters were collected, reproduced and published.  2 Peter couldn't have been written by Peter.  It has no apostolic authority.  Either way, that doesn't change the fact that Paul was talking about scripture, not his own letters.

Peter was alive when Paul wrote his letters that were being distributed.

Paul was well aware that his own writings were Scripture. Reread 1 Cor

It is clear that you NEED a Bible teaching church. You need to sit at the feet of someone who can point these things out on a regular basis

FIFY.  You also haven't answered my questions regarding who made Paul (and Barnabas) apostles.

You mean I need a brainwashing church instead of reading the Bible for myself.

Okay.. You don't have to answer the above.

God made Paul an apostle.

What, in the Bible, do you even believe?

By whose testimony do we know that God make Paul an apostle?

By his own and Peter and Luke.

By whose testimony do you know Scripture is God's word?

A very fascinating and extremely telling thread indeed.

Yeah... If someone does not think that that Scripture is God's word unless it is preceded by the phrase "The Lord said..." Then there isn't any scripture. It is so bad that one could not be sure Jesus was born, lived, died and resurrected because the Gospel writers do not use that phrase at the beginning of their books.

Ya think?  :)
The beauty of Mater and Smellin's belief system is that they decide what parts of scripture are actually scripture.
In their system, THEY play the role of holy spirit as to inspiration.

Luke calls Paul and Barnabas apostles.  Peter calls Paul brother in a book that wasn't written by Peter.  None of the above made Paul an apostle or testifies that God made Paul an apostle.  The only person who testified that God made Paul an apostle is Paul.

Peter called Paul an apostle.

You really need to start reading the NT again.

Paul said "All Scripture is God-breathed..."

Since Paul said it, do you reject that, too?

No, since Paul was referring to scripture, not his own letters.

I gave you 2 Peter. I know you deny that Peter wrote it. Unless you toss the book out as not being genuine, certainly the least can be said someone, other than Paul, recognized his apostolic authority.

If Paul cannot be trusted when he says he is a legitimate apostle in 1.1, then why do you trust him when he says "All Scripture"? He didn't say: "The Lord says All Scripture..."

I gave you 2 Peter.

And you're wrong.  Whoever wrote 2 Peter calls him a brother, not an apostle.

Sounds like you're the one who needs some remedial Bible training.

"brother" and "apostle"

Chapter 1
Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet?s own interpretation of things. 21 For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.

Chapter 3
I want you to recall the words spoken in the past by the holy prophets and the command given by our Lord and Savior through your apostles.

....just as our dear brother Paul also wrote you with the wisdom that God gave him. 16 He writes the same way in all his letters, speaking in them of these matters. His letters contain some things that are hard to understand, which ignorant and unstable people distort, as they do the other Scriptures, to their own destruction.

I cannot stress how important it is for you to find a solid, biblical church.
