I remember the first time I realized that revival sermons are largely word for word repeats all over the country. I was utterly disappointed. I had gone to see a evangelist I admired and in another church some time after previously attending a similar revival he preached. I mean he repeated that sermon almost word for word that night. I asked another preacher about a similar situation some time later and he told me that it happens all the time. That many sermons are often lifted from other preachers and added to the revival sermon list of many preachers. I can tell you from experience, it happens rather often.

If it works to stir people up... Someone is going to us it too.

So much for Divine situational preaching

Generally they're "fresh" for the crowd hearing them.

I attended some training at Peavey in Meridian, MS and the owner, Hartley, was telling us something (don't remember the subject), but he said "It's like a preacher telling the same story over and over and trying to make it sound new". I attended a "revival" where John Goetsch was preaching and teased him to "preach something new tonight". Impossible.

We attended the conference at Lancaster Baptist, then later in the year attended the Sword conference in Winston-Salem. Chappell preached the exact same message he preached at his conference. I told Toby Weaver we didn't travel 3,000 miles to hear the same thing and to tell his boss I wasn't happy about it! LOL! The look on Toby's face was great!

I also heard Sam Davidson preach the same message in different locations.

The mobile website is flaky on my phone. Hard to backspace. I added some to the OP.

The "sell" doesn't match the true story.
I'm not saying there isn't room for repetition. There certainly is. However, there is this expectation that God is involved in every word. After all, they do tell everyone that they have a message God gave them. We know that they often just memorized sermons often lifted from other people who have lifted them from other people.

So it was the same guy who preached "his" sermon at two different churches?

Yes and No.

Sometimes an "evangelist" uses his supposed "own" sermon....but many times it is a different "preacher" stealing/lifting a sermon for use.

I'll give examples withholding names....

***** ******* has preached a sermon all over this country called "sin burns". It is not his. Even though he uses some of his own illustrations. I have also heard the same person, preach a particular sermon from the book of Kings...... several times almost "word of word". Sometimes with success and sometimes struggling to get the "fire going"!!! He is not alone. Happens all the time with others.

On the contrary. ****** ****** preached a sermon "The Gospel Preached unto Abraham" many times across the country. I never heard it the same exact way any time.

I'm just saying that when some preachers tell you they have "something from God"......... I might just be from someone else......

I think Bob Gray TX, preached the same sermon at our church for three years in a row. I was in California at the time.

Thanks.. I think? ...........On the example used in the OP was it the same preacher using his own sermon?

What you trying to say Bob? I've been very clear. There isn't anything to question. I answered you. There where more than one person mentioned in the OP. Notice the word "similar".

It's refreshing to know that "treasure_lost" never repeats himself, never utters the same request in prayer, etc. What a "godly" example he is to all of us mere mortals.

All I've gotten from Treasure is that there are too many churches and too much prayer.

Sure. I repeat myself. I don't do it trying to impress others with my perfect prayer.

My children once asked me how to pray if called upon in public. I told them, what Jesus told us in the Scriptures. Keep it simple. To the point. I believe what Jesus said.....our Father knows what we need before we even ask.....

I often pray. "Lord Jesus, help me."

Mat 6:8 Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.

You forgot too many pastors.

You need to pastor somewhere Ransom. Gifted people are needed. This world doesn't need hundreds of thousands of ungifted pastors all struggling for each other's converts.

I definitely believe that is all you care to remember. It is not all that I've given you. Ransom corrected you in your mistake.

You and Gavin Newsome could work together on this.
