KJV Debated by professor at Heartland

I agree. It's one of the issues that kicked me back from the IFB and caused a much deeper understanding of church history, translation, and consistent theology. Not to mention a generally happier and joyful demeanor  ;)

KJV Debated by professor at Heartland

That's just it. No once can seem to find out exactly what was said other than that he emphasized something greater than the TR and the general Masoretic text and established that they can assuredly be imperfect. They are KJVO, but hold to the more "acceptable" ,if that's even applicable, TR Only...

KJV Debated by professor at Heartland

This has apparently stayed incredibly hushed until now. http://us5.campaign-archive.com/?u=8cc898c6863a6089bfc819e16&id=b7e338e1ed Bro. Blythe apparently drifted strongly away from the TR Only position, during a class no less. If anyone else has any information it will be greatly apprecieated!

    The new Champion Baptist college.

My time frame was off. They went to The Village earlier this year in the spring not long before the end of the spring semester. Some staff were in Seattle at Mars Hill last year as well. I believe the primary purpose was to check out their worship methods. Interesting to note after viewing Bro...

    The new Champion Baptist college.

The changes thus far have been huge but very quietly done. They are no longer KJVO and most staff hires are ESV users in teaching. There has been a HUGE move toward reformed theology. Pastor Capaci took the leadership team to the Village Church in Dallas for 2 or 3 days this summer for...

Chuck Phelps son and daughter-in-law killed in Indianapolis bus crash.....

They leave behind a nearly 2...

    Leaving the IFB hurts.......

You can't lump all IFB together. My home church has grown in grace and out of legalism concerning many of the issues Hyles-Anderson stands for. From my experience it seems to be more regional as to what kind of IFB churches you run into. I'm KJV preferred, but use the ESV a awful lot too. The...

    Leaving the IFB hurts.......

Thanks again for all the good comments guys! For the record, my side of the family isn't perfectly okay with all the changes we have made either. When I said earlier that my mom had accepted/moved on about the pants issue, that is only because she hasn't seen my wife wearing them yet. Neither...

    Leaving the IFB hurts.......

Thanks for the comments guys! They're all actually pretty constructive. @Prophet: I understand and should have expected said reaction. Thank you for your honesty. I don't consider it jerkish when it is straight and to the point. Coming from the IFB you learn to take what comes off as outrageous...

    Leaving the IFB hurts.......

I have been raised a IFB. Born into it, fed it, lived it, and was willing to die for it. The KJV was the ONLY version of the Bible, women wearing pants was a SIN, CCM was a perversion of God's sacred music, etc......then Christ saved me. He absolutely changed my heart and mind! Took my sin and...
