    Why do people become atheists?

Can you explain? I fully agree with all three points here. 1. In my opinion, this is a big deal. Many IFBs like to think that voting Republican is somehow linked to Christianity and that's a huge turn-off. Especially since, other than abortion, most of the Republican party lines are...

Nepotism, choosing a new pastor, etc

To answer the OP, assuming a church with a Head Pastor, I don't think that Nepotism comes into play nearly as much as people think. Remember nepotism is showing favor on the basis of family relationship or in this case choosing a successor because they are family and not because they are the...

    The phony evangelism of Calvinism

Arminians believe that anyone can get saved.

    The phony evangelism of Calvinism

I don't agree with bibleburner but I understand his point. I grew up in a similar church. They believe that when we are saved then God predestinates us to be conformed to the image of his son. Presumably that won't be until Heaven so it's still predestination not post-anything. And with this...

Is God asking his children to lie?

Again,  this is a ridiculous argument because even Calvinists don't believe that everyone that Jesus died for is saved. Some might not get saved until tomorrow.

Is God asking his children to lie?

I notice you aren't making an attempt to explain I John 2:2. . . I don't see why Calvinists always insist that unlimited atonement somehow equals all mankind getting saved. Since when does an offer to everyone suddenly result in everyone automatically receiving the offer? It really astonishes...

    Does man seek after God?

So you and Rogue Tomato disagree? Which one is the main Calvinist position? Rogue Tomato will not concede that even believers seek after God.

    Does man seek after God?

He was quoting "what Scripture plainly says".

    Does man seek after God?

Check the verses again. Somebody out there is seeking God.

    Does man seek after God?

Rogue Tomato made the claim that NOBODY seeks God. He did not say that Romans 3:11 refers only to the unregenerate. So you would say the answer to the OP is "yes"?

    Does man seek after God?

I Chronicles 16:11 "Seek the Lord and his strength, seek his face continually. " Psalm 105:4 "Seek the Lord, and his strength: seek his face evermore. " Psalm 119:2 "Blessed are they that keep his testimonies, and that seek him with the whole heart. " Isaiah 55:6 "Seek ye the Lord while he may...

What would a Calvinist do if he found out "freewill" exists?

You seemed to be trying to prove that since God foreordained the crucifixion then that somehow proves that God foreordained child rape. My point was that I will need more Bible to back that up. I don't see that one logically follows the other. The events are very dissimilar.

What would a Calvinist do if he found out "freewill" exists?

    ? I did answer the question. I don't know.

What would a Calvinist do if he found out "freewill" exists?

I have no idea. Are you saying there is no line?

What would a Calvinist do if he found out "freewill" exists?

Yes, but my point was that the events have vastly different importance in the grand scheme of things.

What would a Calvinist do if he found out "freewill" exists?

Yes, the fall of man would be included in the "God foreordained certain sins" category along with the crucifixion. But it doesn't follow that God "foreordained" child rape. (If by foreordained you mean he caused it to happen)

What would a Calvinist do if he found out "freewill" exists?

Oh look, another "free will is magic" argument. Free will says that if I have a cookie and a brownie in front of me then I can choose which one to eat. Free will does not say that I can spontaneously make a cupcake appear out of thin air and eat that instead. I am a male. (I made a free will...

What would a Calvinist do if he found out "freewill" exists?

I may be jumping too far ahead of you but if you prove that God foreordained man to sin by crucifying Christ that's a far cry from proving that God foreordains a man to sin who rapes a child. One event saves the entire world, one does not.

    Withholding the gospel ...

This is a discussion forum. To someone unfamiliar with Calvinistic doctrine this is a valid question. When I have questions it's generally easier to get a response by asking on a dedicated forum for theological questions then to try to do independent research.

Is God asking his children to lie?

This is wonderful. One would be hard-pressed to define this message of salvation as "Calvinist" or "Arminian". (perhaps because this is the actual Gospel)
