Pictures were always used in the Old Covenant. Animals sacrifices didn't literally take away sins, but it was a picture of the Savior who eventually would. You're trying to make a distinction that isn't warranted by Scripture.

I need to develop a new law. Something like, "As a thread grows longer, the probabilty of Terry complaining to, or about, the management approaches 1."

I think I'll call it the Law of Karens.

Those “pictures”, were they actual blood sacrifices or metaphorical ? Did those actual sacrifices point to another real sacrifice?

I find him to be at odds with CC, both in his interpretive and his interpersonal approach.

I'm still trying to get my head around how quickly he got his first thread closed down by Ransom, not to mention stirring up FSSL.

If the bulls and goats are real, then by definition it's not allegory. Allegory is a fiction wherein characters, situations, etc. are contrived to represent a set of concepts, events, etc. It's an extended metaphor: this is that.

Pilgrim's Progress is an allegory for the Christian walk. The Pilgrim's Regress is C. S. Lewis's allegory for his own intellectual journey. Rush's "The Trees" is allegory for forced equality. And so forth.

If the vehicle (the thing being likened to the subject) is real, then it's typology. Sacrifice of bulls and goats actually happened; they are a type of Christ's sacrifice. Paul's allegory of Sarah and Hagar representing the heavenly and earthly Jerusalem is a type; Sarah and Hagar were historic persons. Peter likening the salvation of Noah through water to baptism, is a type; Noah and the flood actually happened. This is that, yes, but also this is itself.
