I've been using Quicken to track my finances since 1988. It lets me look at yearly totals instead of the day-to-day fluctuations.
This year, I've spent slightly more (about 8%) on gas than last year, although less than I spent in 2022 & 2023. I don't think we've driven anymore this year than last year, but that would be a relevant piece of data.
This year, I've spent significantly more on groceries than last year, and more than each of Biden's years.
This year, I've spent more on all utilities than last year, and more than each of Biden's years.
And since I always like some humor, this year, I spent more for daughter 1's wedding than I did for daughter 2's wedding last year.
From my perspective, the economy is worse this year than last. Of course, one can argue that Trump is reversing the damage done by Biden. I'll see if 2026 improves.
And just so I'm not labeled a Biden supporter: I've never voted for a Democrat for any federal office. I've always voted Republican, Independent, or Libertarian.
