Psalm 19:7-8 tells us "... The testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple... The commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes;"

One of the first things I learned as a new Christian is that most fundamentalists aren't fundamentalists. They hold strongly to doctrines that they realize are not taught in Scripture, and to substitute for the lack of Scripture, they use accusations for proof. One of these doctrines is that you must only use one translation of God's Word, a doctrine taught nowhere in Scripture.

God's Word gives wisdom to Christians who don't have it. Decades ago, I borrowed a parallel KJV and Living Bible. I was amazed at how much I learned by using more than one translation. At Dickinson College, I took a year of Hebrew, at HAC I took a year of Greek, and I taught Greek at OBC. There are shades of meaning that just don't translate completely into English, and by limiting yourself to one translation, you limit yourself to only one shade of meaning.

While I prefer the New King James Version (which has its faults), I have learned a lot of Scripture by using a large number of translations. God's Word gives you wisdom, and you'll get a better grasp of His Word by reading Scripture from different translations.

Vince, seriously, you talk about scorners but if you would just lose your patronizing and condescending tone maybe someone (maybe) would take you seriously besides yourself.

Wisdom gives abundant blessings, and is results from the fear of the Lord, listening to wise men, and heeding Scripture. Another way to get wisdom is to ask for it.

James 1 tells us "5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.
6 But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind.
7 For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord;
8 he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways."

There's more to this verse than meets the eye. Why does God promise not to reproach a Christian who prays for wisdom? Because you're supposed to have wisdom already. While commanding us to get wisdom, God also states that He will not give wisdom to scorners. So what happens if a scorner prays for wisdom?

Since he has rejected the authority of God's Word (which would have given him wisdom) he won't have faith (Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God). The Greek word "wave" is not the ordinary word for "wave." Instead of a mighty crest of water, it refers to the small, tossed-about waves that are formed and broken near the shore. In verse 7, God repeats His assurance that He will not give wisdom to a scorner, explaining that scorners are double-minded and unstable.

But you, Readers, can ask in faith, because God promises to give wisdom liberally and without reproach. You have to keep asking, because God might answer you by working in areas that are blocking wisdom. But have faith--God WANTS to give you wisdom.
 
We've seen that God gives success through grace (Submission  produces humility, which produces grace, which produces the ability to do God's work); through spiritual gifts, (which are given to edify the church), and through wisdom, (which opens the door to other virtues)

A lot of Christians talk about "taking a strong stand for God's Word," and then will back down as soon as they are challenged. A genuine stand for God's Word will be both external and internal. Joshua 1:8 tells us "This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success."                 
 
You have yet to answer what biblical success looks like...if you don't do that how can we know when it is achieved?

Walt, I've been wanting to talk to you for some time, and this is as bad an opportunity as any.

Over the years, a few readers have stood up to the scorners on the FFF, but you weren't one of them. If you had taken a strong stand against disobeying God's commands not to judge, speak evil of the brethren, and scorn, you would have been a leader. God would have blessed you with an audience, and the scorners would have used you as a target for their scorn.

When I did it, you still could have done some good by taking a stand against judging, speaking evil, and scorning, but then you wouldn't have been the leader. Instead, you presented yourself as a compromise leader. As a compromiser, you posted that I was twisting Scripture by saying that "You who judge do the same thing" means that "You who judge do the same thing." You also posted that it is ridiculous to believe that "You who judge do the same thing" means"You who judge do the same thing." When I made an issue of it, you stopped criticizing God's Word, but you didn't retract your attacks.

And now you've returned as a scorner.

Readers, I want to give you two valuable lessons I've learned over the decades:

1) Never trust a compromiser.
2) Never trust someone who does wrong to make himself a leader.

IDIOT ALERT....Vince is the male incarnation of Joan of Arc!
 
Both my wife and me take heart meds that can alter one's mood and cause behaviour that is completely out of character when you miss one or take them out of order or at the wrong time.

Thus I joke about being off ones meds quit often. It's a standing joke in our house. I think maybe that might be his problem.

Maybe he needs to get blood tests and see his physician and have them re-evaluated.

I get mine re-evaluated about once a year. It is a great help at keeping one on an even keel.

I know dementia can be expected when one gets in his 70s and 80s.

My dad got it bad in his early 80s. He did not even know who we were. So that's also a possibility for us senior citizens.
