“did he, as the senior pastor, get veto power?”

If he as senior pastor has veto power, why go talk to the people? If he wanted to do it then just do it but if he can veto any decision the people want, why go to the people?
Why did you pick that one thing out among all those questions?
Small group? I mean if thats what your church wants to do. Who would be leading the small group?
Usually someone who is called to, or has the gift to teach.
I don’t think it would be a good look, as the community goes. People are people and they will say, that church has pedophiles at their church.
See, you find any reason to justify your contempt. In this case, there wouldn’t be any children in proximity to the person, but you find some rationale to exclude them.

This is on them, not me. This is their fault not anyone else’s. They can only blame themselves.

I guess it goes back to the cult thing. Conversations with IFB people who are true believers of the IFB seem to always go back to some pastoral authority, standards, KJV only, tattoos or something in this direction. (If you talk to them long enough)

Your "way" sounds more judgemental, hateful, and self-righteous, and that's just the fact of the matter.
Hey bruh, fine by me if that’s what you and others want to think about me on this issue.

The decision was made over a period of 8-10 weeks by our 25 Deacons and our 5 Pastors. The decision was explained to our congregation and was almost universally affirmed….although not by an official vote.

So your original claim about the reason for your objection to their participation in church life being to protect the children was not really valid. You want to get your pound of flesh since the justice system didn’t punish them enough to suit you.

And all men are pigs if you talk to them long enough, because some treat women badly and the rest are just waiting the right time to treat them poorly.

Pretty much what I figured.

Bruh thinks you’re a compromiser because you even dared to entertain the possibility of letting them attend.

Yeah, the average and most people do not want pedophiles around women and children. It’s only common sense

No. But if you’re asking me if I have more than one reason, of course. Protection would be #1.

Men are pigs 😂

So, which is it, "Bruh," women or children? Someone who goes after children usually doesn't go after women. And men who go after women usually don't go after children. I believe it's like @ALAYMAN said, you just want your pound of flesh. You are conjoining two totally different things, though both are sexual and abusive in nature. So then, using YOUR reasoning we should throw out ANYONE who has committed a sexual or abusive sin.... WOW! That would leave the church half to three quarters empty... Jesus said that if someone even looks at another and lusts after them, whether it be a man, woman, or child, they've committed a sexual sin. So, you say you believe God changes lives, but you don't believe a pedophile could be changed by the power of God and NEVER commit that kind of sin again. I guess you believe God's just not powerful enough to do that, which would mean God isn't Sovereign, ALL POWERFUL, and able to redeem and change lives. Guess that would make GOD a liar, and you would know better than God. I see. Thanks for clarifying that for me.

No, you cannot use that logic across the board. I’ve pretty much included women in this too.

But since you asked, no I do not want my wife or daughters around pedophiles.

I very well can and have used that logic. You may as well not have your wife and daughter go to church then, because they might already be sitting next to a pedophile, adulterer, or even a murderer. You NEVER can tell.
I also noticed that you avoided a bunch in my previous post.... typical. UGH!!! CHRISTIANS!!!

Well, at least you are comfortable with your own inability to allow forgiveness to take place in the lives of people who want to receive God’s grace. Just between you and me, not sure if that’s a good thing.

Of course you can use whatever logic you want. my point is, adultery and child sexual abuse are not the same. Therefore, it doesn’t make sense to me how you can use the same logic.

Please, explain to me how you can use the same logic between the two.

Now, sitting next to someone I do not know is not the same as sitting next to someone you do know. That simple.

So, not answering questions, you tend at times to say a lot. And if I don’t answer a question it’s only because I only have so much time to sit and spend time with such a great guy as yourself.

I never said the victim shouldn’t forgive. What I said was, I’m not gonna tell the victim what they need to do.

You don’t have to tell them, God does (Matthew 6:15). Here’s a good read from a slacker you may have heard of…

If I Fail to Forgive Others, Will God Not Forgive Me?

That process of healing and learning how to forgive might take varying times for different people, like any other aspect of sanctification, but we shouldn’t be shy about teaching what the Bible teaches on any given subject.

I agree with you that the consequences of consensual immorality, and forcible rape are different things and calls for different responses legally, and morally. I am confident that Joe feels the same. Having said that, your desire to hold a repentant sinner in perpetual contempt is the issue that is troublesome.

Ok that’s fine. But I ain’t got it in me to tell the victim what to do. I don’t see it as my place to do this.

Well, I guess I’m guilty of this.

That doesn’t mean thats my view on other sins.

Sin is sin, Brother. Yes, there are sins that are of a more serious nature than others. Still, the point is this, that you don't know what sin anyone has committed unless it comes to light. You very well could have a pedophile in your midst that you know nothing about. It happens, and has happened in at least four churches my wife and I have been in. It's the same for adulterers. Do you want your wife and children sitting next to an adulterer, murderer, thief, or con artist?
Please, explain to me how you can use the same logic between the two.
See above statement.

Thank you for stating the to obvious. The point that you don't know who you are sitting next to even though you may think you do. You don't know their heart. Remember, man's heart is desperately wicked, who can know it?

Believe me, I'm not a "great guy." I have many flaws and a lot of chinks in my armor. I have a lot of damage that has been done to myself, my wife, and several family members from the Baptist churches and Zombie followers of people like Hyles, and others. I'm mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually worn out. But, the Lord is working on me and with me. I'll get there sooner or later. But, thanks for thinking I was....I know you were being sarcastic, or at least I thought you were. You'll have to tell me. 😉
