my son just graduated Marine Corp Bootcamp!
im still so amped!

Tell him I said, "Semper Fi, Marine!"
Check out Marineparents.com.

Tell him you heard from an old Marine (me) some words of advice:
"Put God first in your life. Be the hardest hard charger you know. Volunteer for everything that someone is needed for, no matter the task, you'll get noticed. Keep your eyes on the big picture and don't listen to to negative naysayers. Run with the right crowd, be a leader of whatever crowd you run with and do not get talked into anything that will hurt your good name or rank or future promotions. Find a career path you love and stay on it."

Thank you Fishinnut!
I sure will pass on that good advice to him.
he just left for School Of Infantry yesterday after his 10 day leave. He's in the Reserves.
I've been a member of that website for several months now, it totally helped me get through bootcamp to be able to connect w/ the other parents.
Did you ever attend Gomez's church in IL?  i used to go a lot back in the 90's!

No....never attended Keith's church. He was kinda wimpy compared to the Marines with whom I hung around.  ;)

I am a vocal supporter of our military and I appreciate the honor that our nation gives them when they come home.  However, not all come home alive.  I found this video awhile back and periodically look at it.  The honors rendered to this solider is touching.

a few months ago a local kayak fisherman
became famous when he caught a shark
grabbing his catch on video....

Kayak fisherman has close encounter with shark

but then 2 days ago another kayaker was not so fortunate.... this marks the 13th
shark attack in the islands this year... that;s more than has happened in any previous
year since the state began keeping records.....

nobody knows why but sharks are definitely more active this year... and more interested in people that are in the water with them....

it;s not going to keep my friends and i out of the water... especially when the surfs up or we are out of tako poke'... but it is making us
a lot more cautious and watchful while we are out there.....  :-\.... just gotta remember we are never alone when we are in the ocean....

OK, the thought of sharks unnerves me a bit more but still not as bad as getting caught in a school of jellyfish.

they;re back......... but they should all be gone by sometime today.....
they come ashore on the south side of the oahu 8 to 10 days after
every full moon ....... this months influx of them was bigger than usual....

Swarming Box Jellyfish in Hawaii

JELLYFISH-02-JPG_zps2ef24c0d.jpg

To me they are like invaders from another planet. I got curious so I researched to find out what the "phobia" to jellyfish is called and it's official name is "fear of Jellyfish" What the….?

you mean there is no official name for a phobia involving jellyfish?.....  ??? ..... wow... i didn;t know that.......the scientific name for jellyfish in general is medusozoa... maybe they could call it medusaphobia.....  except that kinda sounds like fear of a getting turned into stone by a twice cursed woman with snakes coming out of her head....  :-\ ........... hmmmmm.....with all the marine biologists running around out there... surely they could think of something......  ???

Medusa sounds about like a perfect description of them…an upside down biting snake hairdo and all. Perhaps it would be called Medusozoaphobia and maybe I could be it's first victim and get my name in JAMA or JABA. Should I give them the name "Holy Mole" or just "Mole" or maybe HM?
