Our Political Discourse.

You cannot legislate righteousness.
Isn't it legislating righteousness when the government takes one person's money and gives it to another using the argument of compassion to justify their actions?

Yes I agree. Trumps Big Beautiful Bill took our tax dollars from Medicaid and gave that amount to the 1% in tax cuts. Also in the bill is still money, our tax dollars, for government funded trans surgery’s for underage children. But they are the righteous party?

I'm so thankful that this Fuentes guy isn't running for president. The contortions needed to rationalize voting for him would be incredible.

The only thing that I can think that would make him acceptable would be to remind myself that I am not electing a pastor.

Fuentes is a vile, despicable human, who believes and vocalizes vile despicable ideas and beliefs, in a vile despicable manner. And he’s gaining traction by being propped up by people like Tucker Carlson.

But he’s a Trump critic, so he just may have some of your mysterious moral virtues. 😏

No law will ever change a single heart, you know that. You also know, I presume, that God has ordained the government to minister for good and restrain evil. Since you mocked the idea of not electing a pastor, what is your suggestion for the smell test of who to vote for to restrain evil?

Have you ever listened to an entire podcast or just clips?

Are they putting America first in any and all decisions including donors.

What I mean by that is in the biblical sense.

"The law is holy, and the commandment is holy and righteous and good" (Rom. 7:12).

If the Law is righteous and good, it certainly sounds like it legislates morality to me.

I'm a Trump critic. It's possible to be critical both of the clowns to the left of me and the jokers to the right.
And I am very critical of Trump…and have posted such. My point, directed at Sub specifically, was in response to his voting for a Pastor comment.

It is possible to think Trump is a narcissist and blow hard but still know he’s a thousand times better than Biden…or any nationally known Democrat.

Technically true.
However not everything legal is moral and not everything moral is legal which is the essence of you can’t legislate morality argument.

Same sex marriage is legal. There was a time that it wasn’t. So, what did they do? They lived together as married people. You can’t legislate righteousness.

All laws technically legislate morality.
You raise the point whose morality will be legislated? That is the crux of the matter.

Who does this, and please define what you mean to put America first?

Leave it to a "Post Toastie" to get to the bottom of things. (Pun not intended—really.)

Why does the world consider opposition to same-sex "marriage" unrighteous?

Seems someone enacted laws to define what is righteous, and the spirit of the age followed suit.

So he considers Fuentes problematic only or mainly because of his sexual proclivities?
