Republicans and Christianity

Politicians in general pretend to be whatever is necessary to get elected and stay in power.  They don't have to understand Christianity, they just have to pretend to be Christians.

The Democrat party itself might be an exception to this rule.  They booed God despite the fact that most voters believe in God, and therefore being anti-God might cost them votes.

In case you haven't seen the video, the Democrats removed God (and reference to Jerusalem as a capital) from their platform.  When that backfired on them in public opinion, they put it to a vote at their convention to reinsert God and Jerusalem.

A 2/3 vote was required to put God back in.  They couldn't get a 2/3 vote.  The leader couldn't get the people to vote to reinsert God, so he just pretended he got a 2/3 majority and put God back in.

The video is a hoot.  He keeps taking the vote over and over again because he's not getting the response he wants.  Finally, he just rules against the vote.

Your statement (bolded) is exactly the point. The only difference is that many Christians see through and expose the Dem's hypocrisy without looking at the hypocrisy from their own.

It shouldn't be a surprise.  I have to go with Patton on this.

It's not that Republicans are good.  They're just a notch above Democrats.  They both rank below pond scum.

The guy who wrote your article is clueless concerning his subject...which is why to him "it makes no damn sense".
The baby killers and perversion pushers in the Democratic Party are obviously THE Christian values party.

OUTSTANDING! You are a genius, Tomato! Absolutely, positively, outstanding! I LIKE IT!

^^^Some watered down statements from my NCO days. It's kind of like watching the edited version of ol' Blood and Gut's speech at the opening of the movie "Patton".  For the FFF, it will have to do.

The sentiment is right on the spot - and I share it. Thanks for posting it.

Other than on the issues of abortion and homosexuality, what else does the Republican Party stand for that is Christian?  I understand as Christians we are obligated to vote first and foremost on the two big cultural issues of our day, but it irritates me when Christians line up behind Republicans as if they are God's Own Party and that everything they do is anointed by God.  It irritates me when preachers will condemn people to hell if they don't vote Republican, yet the Republican Party supports some very un-Christian things once you take the focus off abortion and homosexuality.

To top it off, Republicans only talk about abortion and homosexuality when an election is coming up.  Despite what you hear from liberal talking-heads, America is becoming increasingly pro-life yet the Republicans do nothing about abortion once they get into power.  If it really was as important to them as they make it out to be when running for office, that would have been all you heard about in the news during the Bush Presidency.  It's only on homosexuality that public opinion has shifted far to the left.

In addition, the marriage between conservative Christianity and the Republican Party turns a lot of younger people away from the church and ultimately the Gospel.  I believe God is far more concerned with winning souls to Christ, helping the poor and needy, and other things Jesus led by example at than he is with electing Republicans to office in the United States.

A lot of Republican ideals may be hyper-patriotic, pro-big business, and American nationalist, but you can't say they are Christian.

The Democratic Party on the other hand panders the secularists, racial, and cultural minorities.  Their bread-and-butter however aren't the atheists running academia in America.  It is the working class, many of whom would likely consider themselves Christian but don't see abortion and homosexuality as the most important thing when they go to the ballot box and instead vote on the issues that affect them personally.

Anyone damning someone else to Hell, for voting for an ass liar, over an elephant liar, is a wolf liar.

Too funny! Too true!

The last two election cycles demonstrated something: when emergies and other liberal squishes say that "Evangelical Christians have allied themselves too closely to the Republican Party," it meant "Vote for Obama."

The last presidential election demonstrated something else, too.  You can win easily if you cheat in the key districts of states where the election is likely to be close.

And, thanks to an agreement not to pursue voter fraud made between Republicans and Democrats about 30 years ago, these districts can have a 160% voter turnout and nobody will say or do anything about it.

Our last two election cycles demonstrates something else. We continue to slide down the slippery slope on our way to becoming more like the rest of the putrid, corrupt, socialist humanists across the world.
