Politicians in general pretend to be whatever is necessary to get elected and stay in power. They don't have to understand Christianity, they just have to pretend to be Christians.
The Democrat party itself might be an exception to this rule. They booed God despite the fact that most voters believe in God, and therefore being anti-God might cost them votes.
In case you haven't seen the video, the Democrats removed God (and reference to Jerusalem as a capital) from their platform. When that backfired on them in public opinion, they put it to a vote at their convention to reinsert God and Jerusalem.
A 2/3 vote was required to put God back in. They couldn't get a 2/3 vote. The leader couldn't get the people to vote to reinsert God, so he just pretended he got a 2/3 majority and put God back in.
The video is a hoot. He keeps taking the vote over and over again because he's not getting the response he wants. Finally, he just rules against the vote.

Your statement (bolded) is exactly the point. The only difference is that many Christians see through and expose the Dem's hypocrisy without looking at the hypocrisy from their own.

It's not that Republicans are good. They're just a notch above Democrats. They both rank below pond scum.

Our last two election cycles demonstrates something else. We continue to slide down the slippery slope on our way to becoming more like the rest of the putrid, corrupt, socialist humanists across the world.

Don't mix your heresies. It confuses the other heretics.
