The first is evangelical Christians that realize that a GOP that refuses to pick its battles and compromise on certain cultural issues will become unelectable, handing all future power to the Democrats. We are already seeing this start to play out. The church pulpit is the place to be uncompromising, but when running for political office you have to adapt to the culture and people you are running to lead.
The second group are economic conservatives who dislike the Democrats and would like to support the GOP, but are either liberal on social issues or see them as a matter of individual choice.

I have gone the Independent route...in our State it allows us to vote in primaries for whoever we want. But most of all I could not find a home with the Republicans...or certainly with the Democrats. Today, I believe there is a dime worth of difference between the two.

I have always been interested in politics.
Good or bad, politicians become legislators, rulers, governors and greatly impact our lives....and the lives of our children and grandchildren.
In my younger years, I was a democrat....voted for John Kennedy.
However, the Democrats, like the IFBs left me.
I am relatively active in Republican politics now.
I am working for a friend who is running for congress. He defeated a Republican establishment candidate in the primary. I would submit that it does matter and every concerned citizen should vote...and vote intelligently.
A Democrat can't get out of his primary without a pro abortion and pro gay marriage position.
I would not vote for a dog catcher candidate with either position.
I don't understand how Smellin or any other Christian could, either.
