Trump is now a political liability.

That’s exactly what is going to happen. Desantis will win the nomination and Trump will run third party and a Democrat will get re-elected in 2024. I’m hoping Desantis will wait and run in 2028.
I'm hoping Trump will realize he's not the answer for America and let someone with more character run.

Let's hope that Bill Barr is mistaken about Trump's intentions: "Former Attorney Bill Barr said that Donald Trump would seek to destroy the Republican Party if defeated in his bid to become its 2024 presidential nominee. . . . 'Unless the rest of the party goes along with him, he will burn the whole house down by leading "his people" out of the GOP,' Barr said, referring to the former president's hardline supporters in the party. . . . 'The GOP's poor performance in the recent midterms was due largely to Trump's mischief,' said Barr . . . 'Indeed, among the current crop of potential nominees, Trump is the person least able to unite the party and the one most likely to lose the general election,' he added."

You can add Bill Barr to the long bedsheet list of prominent Republicans who believe that Trump is a political liability. But hey, what do they know?

I truly believe Bill Barr is correct. Trump is a narcissistic, self-absorbed idiot. He cares only for himself.

Trump was a lifelong New Yorker who was a card-carrying member of the Democratic Party for years, rubbing elbows with the Clintons and other liberals. People I’ve known from the NYC area (who either directly knew him or indirectly knew of him) have said long before he even thought about politics, he leaned pretty far left, had a reputation as a philanderer and had known mob associations. He’s no choir boy.

All that being said, I still voted for him twice. He did a lot of good things for the country, but I have always believed he Will completely destroy the party if he doesn’t get the nomination. I’ll vote for him, but I don’t trust him or find him to be an ethical person; I just happen to think he’s slightly more ethical than whomever the Democrats have to offer.

Michael Flynn
Steve Bannon
Kayleigh McEnany

… just for starts

Conservative congresspeople are generally for him.

If he doesn't get the nomination, his whiney behind will run third party/Independent, dividing the Republican vote. He's too much of a "look at me" person. Too involved and in love with himself.
I fear this is true as well.

The same Bill Barr who slow walked justice and hid the laptop?
Yes...the same Bill Barr. I never claimed he was ethical or perfect. If you've got something to say FSSL..come out and say it...don't pussyfoot around. LOL

The same Bill Barr who slow walked justice and hid the laptop?
But he is in a position to know Trump and his response to situations.
I hope you are right in your assessment but it’s hard for a selfish narcissist to change his spots.

So how is the Trump campaign going so far? Out of 49 Republican U.S. Senators, only one has endorsed Trump. Lauren Boebert has declined to endorse him - she likes DeSantis, too. Mike Pence won't comment on whether or not Trump is a "good man." Ivanka doesn't want to get involved - she wants to spend more time with the family. Trump is way down in the Iowa polls. DeSantis is waiting for Trump to "punch himself out." Big-bucks megadonors don't want to give to Trump - they say it's time to move on.

As for the issues Trump is running on, my guess is that Americans are more concerned about getting Taylor Swift tickets than they are about election denial, planting our beautiful flag on Mars, or pardoning and rewarding the January 6 Capitol rioters who unsuccessfully attempted to assassinate the Vice President.

There's almost 2 years before the election, so this stuff will sort itself out. I liken it to all the preseason polls in college sports... Every armchair quarterback is passionate and has an opinion about their team's chances but once the pads are put on and the lights beam bright the real players show up and the posers fade to the shadows. My contribution to the armchair quarterbacking at this point is that Trump was cast as the not-a-chance-in-hades candidate in his run-up to 2016, and of course I know that because I was one of them poopooing him. A lot of those people you mentioned are waiting to see which way the trade winds are blowing before they weigh in. Time will tell.

Let’s be honest…when Trump is only getting 50% support from members on a conservative Christian fundamentalist forum, the gig is up. Game over. Adios. Ciao. Goodbye.

The difference this time is that the “team” has already played and has little support. When the best option is a candidate who Republicans say “I’ll hold my nose and cast a vote for him,” that’s a really bad indicator of grassroots support, and an even worse indicator that Republicans (much less the needed Independents) will get out and vote. In other words, we’ll be left with a new version of “Obama” in office in 2024. Democrats will most likely not run Biden again, but they’ll find a “young Obama” who the media can showcase 24/7 and get all of the liberals and Independents excited about.

Let's pray he takes the hint! I doubt it, but, we can pray he does!

Yeah, time will tell - it's really too early to predict how things will sort themselves out. Let's give old Trumpo some time to deal with all the multiple accusations of violating the Espionage Act, supporting an insurrection, rape and battery allegations, tax code violations, etc. etc. I am sure that the Demon-crats would like us to give Trump the benefit of the doubt and nominate him, so that whoever the Demon-crats nominate (to replace their senile incumbent who doesn't know if he is in Cambodia or Columbia from one day to the next) can really win big in 2024.

Send in the clowns - no, don't bother, they're here.

They've been here since Jimmy Carter from what I recall! :)

In Georgia in the last election Republicans won every statewide race and gained seats in the Ga. Statehouse. Walker. Who I hope wins the runoff, underperformed all because of Trump.

Trump is a political liability.
In his own party

Walker’s a weak candidate to begin with, even without Trump stumping for him. I don’t hold high hopes for the runoff.
