You all need to blow up the picture.

He has his tie folded up in his hands. He clearly took it off to load the truck and his was about to put it back on when they snapped the picture.

This is completely legal and acceptable to take you tie off when loading a truck or mail car. He was wearing the required dress pants, button up shirt and Stacy Adams shoes. Didn't you guys take Church Ed.

No, no....this guy is holding a small New Testament in his hand.  He has nothing to do with loading trucks.  He was preaching to those who were.

Actually, he looks like a mission man

Looks like Tom Holford

Tom hasn't looked that young in 40 years!

I almost forgot those lies Jackie-Boy told about only driving the mail station wagon and making only $19,000 per year!

19,000 is a lot of money back in the day.

No it wasn't. It was the mid 90's. Are you really this stupid or are you just taking on your screen namesake's persona?

19000 during the mid 90s is a little above $30,000 in 2017. That is barely making middle class in some regions, most likely middle class in Hammond.

boom *mic drop*

That isn't middle class in Hammond--maybe it is where you squat in Appalachia.

Jack lived in Munster, wore Hart Schaffner & Marx suits, and gave well over $100,000 (modest estimate) to Jenny Nischik.

Pick up your mic, {veiled cursing}

30,000 is middle class in Hammond still. You haven't been in the city lately have you?

Was through Hammond last weekend and will be there this weekend again. I'm gonna check out the 18th Street Brewery Hammond location!

Come by the church and say hello babe.

Now that's tempting, but I have no desire to see the old gulag downtown!

WAH

Gulag? Our Pastor's name is Wilkerson not Vasily Putin.

Gomer is leading the Gulag!  Well Gooooooooolly!

WAH

Gomer, the character or Gomer the character that played the character?

I loaded trucks for 4 years, while I went through HAC, and I had to wear a tie, cuz they promoted me to lower level management.

Wrecked a few ties, for sure, but it can be done.

Our church building is big & the lobby is big, so big that we have railroad boxcar containers that have been painted and decorated for information stations to highlight different ministries or upcoming events of the church.

Sunday Morning September 17, 2017. This would be your typical Fall crowd.

I did not personally see him.........but Tim T ebow was in 1 of  our services.
Maybe he is scheduled to be a special celebrity speaker.

As the musician started playing "Come thou Fount", I looked over and was startled to see my oldest daughter (14) playing for my youngest son (10) who was singing.  She also took part in the singing of the song.
They were  fantastic!

NOT........we have a lot of well knowns stop by.

I remember many years ago, my wife and I were visiting Charles Stanley's FBC in Atlanta.  When welcoming the visitors, Dr Stanley says, "It's good to have the San Diego Padres players in our service this morning.....".
I was shocked that the Padres were in church before their afternoon game with the Atlanta Braves.  FBC regulars seemed to be not so shocked, but I was stunned and have never forgotten that Sunday.  Pretty cool!

Are these pictures taken during a regular service or just SS?

Images were captured during the AM service. I am not in this building during SS. As you probably know we have many graded classes in other buildings. This room has one small class of about 200 or so. they all sit on the main floor only.
This is just the English Church, Spanish meets in the old auditorium the one doubled in size in the mid-70s.

I saw a group of believers in a small town.  There was a beautiful solo by a young girl playing a ukelele.  The congregation sang, "A Mighty Fortress Is Our God."  I hadn't heard it in a long time.  I saw an old woman with tears in her eyes.  The last two stanzas are what brought the tears on.  I know that because the old woman was me.

"And though this world, with devils filled,
Should threaten to undo us,
We will not fear, for God hath willed
His truth to triumph through us:
The Prince of Darkness grim,
We tremble not for him;
His rage we can endure,
For lo! his doom is sure,
One little word shall fell him.
4
That word above all earthly powers,
No thanks to them, abideth;
The Spirit and the gifts are ours
Through Him who with us sideth:
Let goods and kindred go,
This mortal life also;
The body they may kill:
God?s truth abideth still,
His Kingdom is forever.

Thank you for the clarification.  I spent many years at FBCH back in the day in the old sanctuary.  This new building looks pretty empty, but it also probably seats way too many people.

BGW, if this crowd were in the old building how full/empty would it be?

BG would probably know better... but to my understanding, the most the old building ever had was 3,900 in it, including folding chairs.

The new bottom floor seats 4,000 I think.

I remember Jackie-boy telling us a much bigger number than that.

Old auditorium supposedly seated 7,000.  Jack said he took the choir around on a couple different occasions, and had them actually sit in the seats.  Now I'm not sure if he counted Joe Hackett or Steve Huckins as 1 or 2, so there could be some debate on this number even if it actually did happen.

I think you're confusing the new and old auditoriums. The new one is suppose to sit 7,000 people bottom and top.

FBC built the 1964 auditorium to seat 2,000.  It doubled in 1974-74, so you'd think that it would seat 4,000, but we were told it was 5,000.  Then FBC added the mezzanine, TV sections above the hallways and the balcony extensions on the sides----so 6,000 could be a little realistic with families of adults and small children.

The 1964 bldg was very intimate and only measured 100'x100' with a very large choir loft and the large cross in the baptistery.  This is the auditorium where my parents were married and Bro Hyles baptized me----great memories!
