Wives, Sisters, and Daughters, Please Speak

See how you IFB people throw molesting children in with all other sins?
Never said that. You’re either dishonest or slow on the uptake.
Like cheating on your spouse or over eating or getting drunk. Not sorry but that’s just twisted thinking in my opinion.
Again, you’re making stuff up (that’s the sanitized version).
Sure you can be a member of my church so and so got drunk 3 weeks ago and he repented.
Now you’re either lying, confused, or both.
Weird how in your church if someone drinks alcohol he cannot be a member but if someone violates a child he is more than welcomed because he repented.

You struggle with the Biblical concept of forgiveness, and as I said earlier, are in good company. Again, since you dodged earlier. What did God mean when He said you can’t be forgiven if you aren’t willing to forgive?

What if he becomes a holocaust denier and starts secretly killing Jews?

This “what if” game is fun.
You don’t wanna answer the question? Go ahead answer the question.

What if he backslide and abuses a child in your church?

What’s wrong you haven’t thought that far ahead?

Don’t troll, or you’ll go ignore. You’ve been warned.

I’ve already addressed the “risk” via the linked article and policies that would guarantee that while they are in the assembly they would never be allowed to be alone with a child, and they would never NOT have staff assigned to keep an eye on them.

Thankfully you’re not in charge of that department.
You cannot guarantee 100% that it would never happen.

Unless, you have someone in your church and this has been tested?

I’m not trolling. Answer the question.

If he backslides and abuses a child in your church? Are you actually willing to allow this? And give an answer to the parents?

I never knowingly have had this scenario in nearly 30 years that I am aware of.

You can’t guarantee ANYTHING because you’re not omnipotent or sovereign.

Your question makes no sense. I assume you’re asking if the risk of not having a bulletproof plan that absolutely 100% guarantees that a recurrence never occurs is worth trying to follow Biblical principles for forgiveness and corporate worship. In that scenario of failure the person would be reported and go back to prison and the church would assist in their conviction.

Exactly why a pedophile should never be allowed to be a member in any church.

And if that happens you’d have to have that conversation with parents for allow him to be a member. I’m not talking about forgiveness. I’m talking about protecting the flock.

Protecting the flock would be letting them know how we were enacting specific plans to prevent what you’re talking about, and at the same time shepherding the whole flock, not just the ones you find acceptable .

You don’t get to decide that for a given local church.
You are correct and this is why I will never be a member of a IFB church again. It’s very sad.

True story. When I was IFB I worked with a man that I was witnessing to. There was a IFB church near his house. He goes with his wife and children.

Monday morning at work he tells me, I went to that church you suggested. I said, how was it? He said, the man that was leading the music is on the sex offenders list. I said, you’re joking right? He said, no I looked his name up and the pastors name up on the sex offenders list and the song leaders name was on there.

I’m curious, what would you have told him?

You do realize that this notion of forgiveness and church attendance for offenders isn’t unique to IFBs, right? You think the article I linked to was sponsored by an IFB group? You should learn to expand your perspective of thinking beyond the small circle you’ve been in.

I would have said that an offender would not be given a position of such high leadership in our assembly, so it’s a scenario we wouldn’t face.

All churches should have background checks with anyone who works with minors. No rapist should see the light of day for many, many, years much less being allowed to work with children and cold-blooded murderers should receive the death penalty whether they have repented or not. Some sins are greater than others and have greater consequences.

Yeah, I agree with all that, and the church in your video handled that employment situation very poorly. Having said that, there are proper ways for a church to handle offenders who have paid their legal debt to society and genuinely repented of their sin.

In order to work with the young people in my church you have to have a background check...

I’m not trying to throw a cold rag on your efforts, merely to try to understand. Any person who has been traumatized and abused should have justice and healing.

What positive impact or outcome is accomplished in this call to speak out on a public forum? And how do you know that it isn’t something that is just made up when somebody speaks it?
You have raised many good points. The fact that no one seems to be clamoring to share their misfortunes on a public forum says a lot. Honestly, I'm not even sure the Admins of the forum would let accusations and names fly. It wasn't really my intention. I realize I wasn't clear. Mainly, I just want to encourage women to talk to authorities or a counselor, etc.

"It were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he cast into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones."

Luke 17:2

Can a molester be forgiven by God? How about forgiven by you?
Ooooh.....what a good question. I've never been through it, nor have any of my family members... that I'm aware of.
If they were molested by a man, especially a man who has a trusted position in a church or school, I'm not sure I could forgive him.

From what I've read, chances are high that a predator will do it again.

I'm glad we're discussing church policies on the subject. As most of you know, IFB churches do not have a good reputation regarding this important topic. Hiding things under the rug does not help. In fact, it hinders the help a church body should be giving.

Should a rapist be allowed to be a member of your church if he has repented of his sin?
