You might be an IFB If…

A Baptist church watching a movie about a methodist preacher....................................Ya, right
Hey, go start your own "you might be a Bible Church guy if..." thread! 😁😉

Good to see you again my ol' Wolverine buddy!

Good to hear from you Al. I prayed for your mom. My folks, which are in their upper 80's, got the covid around christmas time and survived it. It messed up christmas but that's all right. I thought I could spend more time here when I retired... but who knew :)

I am sure between grandchildren, golf, and getting more books that you keep a pretty busy schedule still. Glad to hear that your folks made it through that awful disease.

...if you think that screaming "rip their face off preacher" or "let 'em have it preacher" is a proper form of "amen" during the sermon...

you just might be an IFB.

...if you like it when the preacher calls out them britches-wearin' wimmin by shoutin' "heifer" or "whore"...

you might be an IFB(x).

If your pastor preaches that the wimmin must not wear britches, or skirts that are too short, because if they do, the men in his own church might lust after them . . . you may be IFB.

Brother, these last two posts from you have really hit me right between the eyes, stepped on my toes, and nailed my hide to the wall! 😁

I seriously did like my TV Guardian DVD Player, wish it still worked. I'm not averse to contextually appropriate language occasionally, but there are some movies that I thought would have been decent or watchable but they just had to get their rating up by mixing in some unnecessary and unwanted curse words. That's annoying and distracting to the story to me. Anyhoo.... back to our regularly scheduled program.☺️
I never knew there was such a DVD player.
I will say that it is very hard for me to watch Netflex/Hulu etc. series and moves filled with the F-word and GD this and GD that.
Am I a prude or do others have the same repulsion?

You might be a IFB is you've never known congregationalism existed before Jesus was born.

"Independent" is nothing more than a "sales gimmick".

You don't know what TV Guardian is??? Didn't you say you were once an IFB man? Faker! ;)

I know plenty of people in our demographic that are either marginal/nominal Christians or not a Christian at all who think there's no doubt to the coarsening of the consciences of society which manifests in things like crude language in movies with no real purpose. And many of those folk that I'm talkin' about who have those opinions have pretty salty language in their personal lives. So no, that alone doesn't make you a prude. Now your penchant for vinegar/mustard BBQ, that makes you prude.

I've helped set a few up in my life. They don't work very well. Especially if the CC lags.

If we are comparing technology of today anachronistically with that of technology when TVGuardian came out then I'm sure we can do so much more now, but keeping the ol' TVGuardian in it's proper context, it was a breath of fresh air, albeit a bit clunky. To me, at the time, the trade-off was worth it.

...you think that citing The Church Fathers in any way is proof of Catholic sympathies and ultimately heresy, but so long as the source is a "militant fundamentalist" (ie, Ian Paisley) then all is well....

if all your family vacations consist of going to a camp meeting somewhere.
(Those really are the only family vacations my wife ever went on when she was growing up.)

If it makes her feel a little bit better tell her that my "family vacation" (only a couple of times in my life at that) was to go to the local lake or game reserve and do a little fishing/shooting. We didn't do "vacations" in any real sense, too poor. :)

Oh, Lord! We went to MANY of those things!

.... if you are scared of rainbows.... . the sign of God;s covenant with noah..... and shun all images of rainbows.... simply because the lgbtq-rsp etc.. activists stole it and tried to corrupt it.... non IFBs like me might think you are a hyper-xer IFB... ..but, then again.... i might not be qualified to apply that label.... ;)
