T-Bone, ever since you have entered this thread, you have posted slanders, insults, and false accusations, while ridiculing the promises of God. When a poster entered with blasphemy and slander, you backed him. When he later stated that that he would post a lie every day, you backed him. When you stated that Satan is my father, I quoted Romans 2:1 to show that you are describing yourself.

Is there something wrong with me because I believe that you are not born again? No, there is something wrong with you because your posts prove that you are not born again.

Does it speak well of you that some of the scorners are defending your sins? No, it speaks evil of those scorners that they are defending an unsaved man for committing the same sins they commit.

Okay Vince I will stop taunting your inane posts, at least on this thread. But do yourself, this forum & the church a big favor...stop posting your useless and idiotic posts and get some real help.  I thought for a while you were merely an idiot, you have proven your issues go much deeper.  So please stay off the net & get some desperately needed help.

Now do you realize why I was teasing him about being off of his meds? The Mexican pharmacy is just not cutting it for him.

The prosperity gospel is the doctrine that if you donate money to a wealthy evangelist, God will make you rich. The verses used for this doctrine actually refer to giving money to the poor.

And now:

Jesus explained in Matthew 6 that God takes care of birds and grass, which are far less important than us. He concluded "Therefore do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you."

But notice that this promise is not for everyone. It is for those who seek FIRST the Kingdom of God and His righteousness.

Romans 2:1 is talking explicitly to Gov. Officials, who have the power to condemn people to death for violating Civil Law.

Didn't you know that context is meaningless if you're trying to make a point? [h :D

HAC 101.  Send me back to remedial slopical sermon prep.  I'm obviously not ready yet for the advanced interpolation courses.

Romans 12:1
Exactly.  We face none.

What difference does it make? There is only one poster who really believes it anyway! The gospel according to Vince!

No, in context the judgment being talked about is religious/moral judgment by self-righteous people. In chapter 1, Paul is describing the consequences of the Gentiles' unbelief; in chapter 2, he targets self-righteous Jews who boast in God's law but behave no better. By chapter 3, he has concluded that depravity and alienation from God are the universal human condition.

Why would Paul address government officials in a letter to the church of Rome?

Did you mean chapter 2 or chapter 12? Your reference of Romans 2.1 seems to be wrong and it is creating confusion since there is nothing about government in chapter 2.

Rom 1:32 - 2:1
32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.
Chapter 2
1 Therefore thou art inexcusable, O man, whosoever thou art that judgest:for wherein thou judgest another, thou condemnest thyself; for thou that judgest doest the same things.

This is referring to Judges (actual gov. officials) who have the power to sentence to death.
You can say that Jewish Judges are being targeted here, but you can't deny that this passage is talking about legal, official judgement, and not some one looking down on their neighbor.

"They" refers back to "men" (ie mankind) in verse 18 and is generic.

There is no address to a particular segment of people--"judges"

I think there is very little doubt that this is true. After all..... Romans 2:1 says "whosoever thou art that judgest".....

1) Romans 2 is about Jews, regardless of whether Paul was writing to Jews. 2) Rome had an entire "Jewish Quarter" of Jews in the trade industry between Rome and Alexandria, where many of them had immigrated from, and 3) because we shouldn't be surprised if the Roman church comprised many Jewish converts as a result.

When Jesus taught to "judge not, lest ye be judged," was he addressing Jewish judges?

Why do you fail to see that ordinary people, not just those in positions of judicial authority, make judgments all the time?

Man, Ransom, you've really put a lot of work into explaining away Romans 2:1.

Readers, the method Ransom is using is that when you find averse you don't like, you keep going forwards and backwards until the subject changes. Then insist that the different subject is the context.

However, when you go forwards from Romans 2:1, you see that Paul is talking about judging a group of Christians. When you go backwards, you find that Paul is talking about judging an individual. After arriving at the context, however, Ransom kept going until the subject changed.

Sorry, Ransom, but the slanders, insults, accusations, and scorn that you regularly post all describe yourself. "You who judge do the same things."

And now, back to God's Word: "Do not let your heart envy sinners, But be zealous for the fear of the LORD all the day;" Prov. 23:17
Sometimes a Christian will see a crowd following sin, and he is taught that with so much support, the sin must be right. He sees that the sinner is given respect, and perhaps leadership and wealth. But God tells us to stay in the fear of the Lord all day long.

Fixed it for you. Hope that helps.

Anyway, I can justify my interpretation by going through the first three chapters of Romans bit by bit. I highly doubt Vince can say the same.  (In fact I highly doubt Vince can say much of anything unless it's the same point repeated ad nauseam and peppered with invective against "scorners.")

And slanderers. Don't forget us slanderers....although I'm still waiting for him to explain exactly how I supposedly committed slander AND blasphemy. I know he'll never respond though. His type rarely does.
