Roy Payne said:As wtyson said, "There is no evidence or proof ... only innuendo." Virtually everything negative said on this site is unsupported. Unloving people with attitudes of spite & sarcasm. Disgruntled former LBC members or unhappy past WCBC students. Those who had a bad experience in another IFB church & now they can only see all IFB churches through those tainted lenses.
Don't forget those people who had been victimized by criminals that have been put in jail because of their abuse. There are also those of us who were victimized who will never see their perpetrators brought to justice for the wrong they have done due to a powerful, manipulative fear and political influence. You see, it is not just disgruntled, it is people who were legally victimized. Understanding that the statute of limitations has expired, or, choosing to forgive without confrontation, some here have chosen to allow the perpetrators to die in the terror of their lies rather than encouraging the perpetrators to find peace through repentance. There are many here who currently are IFB, I am one. I took off my rose-colored glasses some years ago and no longer see the movement through tainted lenses.
Roy Payne said:A lot of, "I know things ..." without saying specifically WHAT you know. And "I know someone who was ..." But like the "telephone game" of childhood, the last retelling bears little or no resemblance to the first. No one is offering dates/times of actual wrongdoing. There are no multiple witnesses in agreement (II Cor. 13:1 & Mark 14:55-59). No pictures, no transcripts of meetings, no recordings & no police reports. Not a single, solitary shred of evidence that would bear the inquiry of a person who seeks only the Truth, much less anything that would stand up in a court of law.
Right. There is not enough evidence to stand up in court. Doesn't mean it didn't happen. I pegged JS as an abusive, girl crazy egomaniac when I first heard him preach at HBGS when I was in 6th grade. I, of course, didn't use those words, but I knew something was up. Took roughly 3 decades for proof to come to light. You are essentially quoting the Jack Hyles motto for stories of abuse (just in case you were wondering). This tactic only gets more people hurt.

Choose to see it however you want. Ninevah didn't believe Nahum either.
Roy Payne said:Nothing said has been supported by tangible, irrefutable fact. Hearsay, conjecture, gossip, and a desire to tear down an IFB pastor simply because he IS an IFB pastor. Your bias is screaming, it's so virulent and so mean-spirited.
Or maybe we are simply warning. Maybe the bridge is fine. Maybe there is nothing wrong. Maybe PC is everything he tells everyone he is. In a way, I hope he is just as wonderful of a pastor as he pretends to be on the internet. Or, maybe something is wrong. Maybe there is a reason that his first reaction to the new was to lie. We are just encouraging people there to think for themselves.
Roy Payne said:As a pastor myself, it reminds me of three things:
#1. It doesn't have to be true to damage my reputation & that of my church.
#2. My reputation & that of my church belong to God & He is more than able to uphold us.
#3. Matthew 5:10-12 and John 15:20-21. I'm sure Brother Paul & the staff at LBC are resting in these passages and I, for one, will pray that the Lord will "keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on Thee, because he trusteth in Thee". Isaiah 26:3
You are right, accusation does not have to be true to damage a reputation. That is why we are admonished to live above reproach. If someone accused you and your church of impropriety, hopefully you would be able to easily refute the accusation by providing open books and complete honesty. However, if your church treasurer had just been arrested for embezzlement at a non-church related workplace and the media approached you to discover your first response was to deny his involvement at your church - there would be plenty of questions for you. However, if you immediately acknowledged the relationship and offered for an audit, you would be well thought of in your community. Get the picture?
