Republicans and Christianity

My present attitude? Why? Because I'm not a gun toting, Limbaugh listening, right wing Republican like you? Oh my, I can't be as masculine as you, you are such a manly man!

I'm such a manly man? Why? Because I'm not a limp wrist, milquetoast, panty waist, Obama loving, scumbag liberal who can't hold a gun much less fire one like you? Well, if you put it like that, then - yes. Yes I am.  :)

Ok sarcasm off!, no, I don't believe for one second that 'Murcia is God's special place for man.

Then you are a fool as well.

Recovering IFB said:
Just because we have been blessed, it not because we're special or we have done anything great, it's just because he blessed us. Sort of like your salvation, you didn't do anything, God did!

There is a reason God blesses nations and people groups but you would have to actually read AND believe the Bible to understand that.

Pray tell...why did God bless the Babylonians or the Assyrians or the Romans?

Apparently, somebody hasn't been reading theirs, So to answer rsc2a,.why did God bless the Babylonians or the Assyrians or the Romans? Did they have Faux News, Limbaugh, Hannity?  Or did they have booming economies because they were so Godly?

Wow, never been called that before.  Look at you, bursting with such masculinity!!!  you tough guy!!  ;D
( I admit; I learned something. I had to look up milquetoast; Ha!!)

All this stuff about who's the most masculine doesn't really work for me, being a woman and all. OTOH, I'm not real concerned with being feminine. I'm happy with my gender, but relatively androgynous (cf. the eponymous Joan Jett song) and I like it that way.  :-*

If Jesus were here, openly and in person, I don't think he'd be supporting Republicans or Democrats, or even urging people to vote.

Everything in Scripture relating to nations and God blessing them or cursing them is in the Old Testament and deals primarily with Israel, God's chosen nation, vs the pagan nations that went against Israel.  There is nothing that can be used to justify belief that America, or any other nation that has risen or fallen since the time of Christ, is God's new chosen people or even special people.  Any speculation about America's role in endtimes prophecy is only speculation.

I believe that any Nation that declares its God is The LORD, is going to be blessed.

America once did that, on a National level.

We told Him it was over, in the early 70's, and now were are the opposite, a cursed nation that has shed innocent blood.

Were we ever a Christian nation?
No.
As Patrick Henry said: We are not a Christian Nation, but rather a nation made up of many individual Christians.

Just as you learned the meaning of milquetoast, I learned that not all military service is equal in the eyes of a crazed right-winger.

So all you have to do is declare "Our God is the LORD" and you can slaughter Natives and enslave Africans and your nation will still be blessed? Sounds about right ::)

No it's not!
Your knowledge of party politics is apparently way too small.

The Democratic Party platform has a pro baby killing plank....has for decades.
It also contains a push perversion platform.

Any Democratic candidate who is pro life and pro traditional marriage will find themselves out in the cold...with very, very, very few exceptions!

Kinda like the "loyal, patriotic" military man who publicly defames his own Commander-in-Chief.

You see, Smellin, President Obama is also not a True Scotsman.

It can be argued that homosexuality is in a category all its own, being the absolute bottom rung of human depravity, but other than that all of America's national sins today had equivalents in the earlier days of this country when it was supposedly a Christian nation.  The slaughter of the natives was just as much murder as abortion is.  Sure there may be less people calling themselves Christians today, but a century ago there were still plenty of people claiming Christianity that were anything but and they definitely weren't fundamentalists.  Christians today like to paint this rosy view of America prior to the 1960s as being this pristine Christian society that was lost and must be reclaimed, but its a society that never really was.

Speaking of homosexuality, it's all the rage today to come out.  Responses to the latest coming out (Chip Sarafin, who hasn't even played in a real game yet):

"Congratulations Chip Sarafin for having the courage to be yourself." -- Michael Sam

"The entire athletics department is extremely proud of Chip and is unequivocally supportive of him..." -- Arizona State vice president of athletics Ray Anderson

Since gay people are trying to claim minority rights, I can't help but try to visualize someone coming out as a black person.  Would people be shocked by the revelation, or tweet how proud they are to courageously reveal that they're black?

I would not vote for a dog catcher candidate with either position.

I am 100% pro-life so there is no argument from me there.

Anyway, let's see if you are consistent here. Do you vote for politicians who do not have an issue with premaritial sex and common-law relationships? How about "easy divorce"? Would you vote for someone who was known to have practiced adultery? How about gambling? Do these issues matter to you in politics? Does every politician you support HAVE to align 100% with your personal/moral convictions? Do you investigate every single moral issue from every candidate you vote for to make sure every single issue agrees with you?

Unless you are that dedicated and refuse to vote for anyone from any party for things that don't align with your moral compass, bringing morality into the picture as your point of contention is baseless. And if you are that dedicated and thorough, I applaud your consistency and would suggest you would be a minority in your own party.

And there wouldn't be a "rage" if it weren't something that others consistently made it a point of contention. :)

The blessings of the Lord are plenty in Harvest, and the like, and yes, for the sake of His individual children, He blessed this Nation.

Have we suffered great financial judgement, several times in our history?
Yes.
Look at the Civil War.

And we are in an irreversible place now, never to return to liberty and self reliance.

I've actually never lived in the America that we were supposed to be.
And I never will.

So this is all just looking back at what was, anyway.

Guessed some missed this^^^
