The fundamental problem with red-letter so-called Christianity...

Yes, "Red Letter Christian" means more than just literally the particular words written in red.  But the problem embodied in Ransom's post still applies.  "Red Letter Christianity" prioritizes the Gospel accounts above the Epistles, because Jesus is above Peter, Paul, John, etc.  But Jesus...

Never Ever Heard THIS From a VP Candidate

Sooo... You don't think it's possible someone might decline to vote for Trump on actual obedience to his or her conscience?  Or is it that you think that people whose consciences tell them not to vote for Trump should just ignore their consciences? Kind of a jackass, arncha?

    Officer, finally, charged with murder

In the context of the book, particularly the first two chapters, what sort of "works" do you think Jimmy had in mind?

My facebook friends are getting feisty!!!

Not a ton of that in my Feed.  I did reply to one person that "Basket of Deplorables" sounds like something I'd order from Amazon. There's a LOT more of the ridiculous jingoistic anti-Kaepernic ranting.  So far I've mostly ignored it.

Local Arminian Loses Salvation In High-Stakes Poker Game

Right, but even the subsequent generations of Arminians that do believe in the possibility of apostasy do not believe salvation can be "lost."  Well, "Classical" ones at least; Wesleyan beliefs could more easily be interpreted as believing salvation can be "lost," IMO.

Local Arminian Loses Salvation In High-Stakes Poker Game

Yep.  Well, except for the fact that Arminians don't believe it's possible to "lose" salvation.  But aside from the fact that the whole premise of the spoof is fallacious, quite the hilarious bit of satire.

What type of fundamentalist are you.

Like most Pentecostals and other Evangelicals, I would qualify as a "Fundamentalist" in terms of believing in the Five Fundamentals.  But since I'm given to understand that those Five Fundamentals comprise only a small part of "true" Fundamentalism, I'm probably not one at all. OTOH, in the...

    The Old Paths

I can't decide whether that's hilarious or tragic.  I thought the AoG's "holiness" torah was crazy, but that pile there is above and beyond. Is there a link to an original source for that list?

Taking Gender Equlity to its Logical Conclusion

I'm not at all convinced that the sports scenario cited in the OP really is, as the Title of the thread suggests, the "logical conclusion" of gender equality. I also think there are various truths in Scripture which, if carried to their "logical conclusions" in practice, will crash together...

When They Had Sung A Hymn

Do you have clear and explicit Biblical evidence that "proper" Xian music should not be in the loud, boisterous, multi-instrument celebratory style of Psa. 149-150?

    The Old Paths

Scripture uses the term "modest" (aidos) exactly one time -- 1 Tim. 2:9.  In that context, the primary meaning is that women are not to dress in ways that flaunt their wealth or social status.  By definition, then, any other meaning we ascribe to "modest" comes from outside Scripture. In the...

When They Had Sung A Hymn

AFAICT, it is a song of praise in honor of heroes, gods, God, etc.  I don't see anything there about style. I see from 1 Cor. 14, Eph. 5, and Col. 3 that "psalms" are also recommended; presumably these would include those such as Psa. 149-150. I also see from 1 Cor. 14, Eph. 5, and Col. 3 that...

    Very mixed emotions

Directing my righteous indignation and prayers of imprecation toward the blue-nose fundies rather than smugly judging those who don't wish to be forced to endure ignominious suffering -- It is well with my soul.

    Very mixed emotions

I'll pray for you guys to get pancreatic cancer so you can get back to us and impress us with how nobly and courageously you're living out your "faith."

    By What Authority?

Wasn't the Apostle Paul a convicted criminal? Of course divorce is never mentioned there, and opinions are far from unified on the idiomatic meaning of "one-woman man." Where is it written that only some special class of super-Christians may perform baptisms?

    By What Authority?

A reasonable clarification, even though I think you read in a bit to what I said.

    By What Authority?

What authority do you think he needs, apart from being a believer? What makes you think baptism is about adding people to a "church" as opposed to the "Church"?
