Glad you can be so giddy when my friend with spina bifida will no longer be able to get affordable insurance nor the quality care she need. And two other families I personally know with autistic children who now fear they won't be able to afford to care for their families.

My issue isn't so much that it was in essence killed, but it was not replaced AS PROMISED. Where is the safety net for the most vulnerable who need it?

Yet, you are giddy that poor, unhealthy folks are going to get second class (if any) care and can face bankruptcy, putting them into extreme poverty. And you consider yourself a follower of Jesus?

Oh brother, Elmer!
What a c r o c k!

Nothing Trump did will prevent your ?friends? from obtaining insurance. The mandate has been taken out...and that was the guts of ACA! The mandate does not effect the available coverage.

Obama and the socialist liberal democrats lied about the ACA from the beginning and have admitted such. My wife has an individual policy that, under Obummercare doubled in premium while the deductible more than doubled!
My friend lost coverage completely and had to pay the fine for NOT having the coverage he couldn?t afford.

Be vewy, vewy afwaid....

Of course they can still purchase insurance - if the cost is right. But paying $3-$4K per month is a little high for some of us. (I'm fortunate I get coverage through work so I am going by what these folks have told me personally, not the media.)

I understand your 2nd example as you clearly state your friends FEAR they won't have affordable coverage; I've experienced that fear every year since the ACA was passed, having been cancelled 4 times, had my premiums almost triple, and learned that no individual policy available to me covered my oncologist (breast cancer).  So yes, fear is real, we can agree.

I'm interested, though, in what changes the spina bifida patient has experienced since tax reform was passed 2 1/2 weeks ago.  She can no longer get coverage or quality medical care since the repeal of the mandate on 12/22/17?  I understand that if she no longer WANTS insurance, she won't face a fine for her choice, but otherwise... how did circumstances change as you describe?

I have 2 adult sons - one has never qualified for a subsidy (too "rich" with his after-child support income of $12K/year) and one who gets the subsidy to help pay for crappy policy (which nobody takes so he self-pays when he's sick).  The repeal of the mandate helps one of them, but doesn't hurt either of them.  Wouldn't it be basically the same for the people you're most concerned about?

Another matter I'm not clear on:  can I consider myself a follower of Jesus, or just a giddy hater who doesn't care about my sons (much less other poor and/or unhealthy folks)?  :-\

Sad all around.

Get the Feds out of it.  Eliminate Fed restraints from shopping across state lines and buying meds from out of the country.  So many problems because of the Feds.  IMO, insurance has ruined health care.

Absolutely agree.

In instances where there is truly a need for government assistance/safety net, I'd rather leave it up to state and local officials to find out a workable solution for their own communities.  It's much easier, IMO, to be heard and affect change (in policy AND in election results) locally than federally.    If I didn't hate the poor & sickly so much, I'd suggest that block grants to the states are worth considering in order to ensure that those who need it continue to  have access to medical care.  ;)

Which of the 81 achievements do you think are really bad?

She said that after the decision was made, the insurance said when her term expires, the monthly cost will go up over $600 per month. She (age 23) and her father (heart condition) are looking for other plans but the cost of insurance for the two of them alone exceeds his income as a contract truck driver.

Concerning your last statement, I don't consider you a "giddy hater". That was toward a specific individual, not everyone who supports the changes. Obamacare had severe deficiencies that needed to be corrected/revised. No question. But without an active plan in place, I don't think anyone who goes out of their way to rejoice in situations that cause people to be dropped (or costed out) whether it be an existing or a preexisting condition, is a Christlike attitude.

So it looks like her issue, as well, is fear that when people are allowed to go uninsured without incurring a penalty, premiums will go up to cover the loss of those penalties... IF a repair or replacement is not implemented in the meantime (which, if I understand correctly, is in 2019).  Fair enough - it's a fear a lot of people share, and one many faced when their prior policies (which were sufficient & affordable) were cancelled and replaced with expensive, high-deductible ACA compliant plans.  I don't discount anyone's fears - those hurt by ACA or those who might be hurt if it's ever repealed and not replaced.  Especially now that we learned that politicians - even presidents - will out-right lie to the American people about the outcome of their legislation, if that's what it takes to get it passed.

Support of the ACA penalty repeal, and compassion for the sick, aren't mutually exclusive.  I was "costed out" of insurance by the ACA; never occurred to me to consider those who celebrated its passage as unchristian.  Maybe I should rethink this... ;)  lol

Again, at the risk of being called a 'giddy hater' for simply stating the facts, the plan you rail against is OBAMA'S PLAN!
Since he and the democrat's lied to pass the ACA, my own premium has doubled, as have so many others'. BECAUSE OF OBUMMERCARE.
You cannot blame this mess on Trump!
