I went to church and a rock concert broke out.

Who did Aaron ask them to worship in verse 5?  The LORD.

Aaron gave them the method of worship that was familiar to them from Egypt (statues, nudity, clashing sounds and shouting).

3,000 men worshipped the worship instead of God.  For this, they were killed.

Geesh!!!!

Verse 5 says these words "he built an altar before it".... The IT was the "molten calf".

You're an complete NUT!!!

Even verse 8 says these words..

Exo 32:8  They have turned aside quickly out of the way which I commanded them: they have made them a molten calf, and have worshipped it, and have sacrificed thereunto, and said, These be thy gods, O Israel, which have brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.

So much for caring what the Scriptures have to say about it. You've formed you're own idol of the verses. What you believe certain aren't what it says.

Another hint:  define the Doctrine of Balaam.

Someone must have hacked your account. I can't ever remember you being this stupid!!!

Why do you keep ignoring that Aaron declared a feast to the LORD using the calf?

If Aaron was intending idolatry, why was he not killed also?

What led to the idolatry?  Aaron's attempt to help the people worship the LORD in the manner of Egypt's worship.

I believe one huge factor was their choice of Moses to speak to them instead of the LORD Himself.

A direct rejection of a more personal relationship with the LORD.

The LORD intended to have the people hear everything that went on on the mountain.

The people rejected God in favor of the Moses model where Moses speaks in the place of God.

Exo 20:18    And all the people saw the thunderings, and the lightnings, and the noise of the trumpet, and the mountain smoking: and when the people saw it, they removed, and stood afar off.Exo 20:19    And they said unto Moses, Speak thou with us, and we will hear: but let not God speak with us, lest we die.

They did not want to listen to God. They rejected the LORD because of their own unbelief.

And what was the correct method of worship that they should have used?

Be careful how you answer because by the logic you are trying to build, whatever they were supposed to use is the method you should be using now.

They weren't worshipping "worship," they were worshipping a golden calf.

At least, that's what God tells Moses in Exod. 32:8. Maybe he was mistaken, though. Perhaps you should let him know.

Are we supposed to believe Aaron, or God?

Why are you ignoring what the Scriptures say Aaron did? He built an altar before the calf and called it "the Lord". That is exactly what verse 5 says. Nothing more. Nothing less.

God didn't kill Aaron but he certainly punished many. Even those in the tribe of Levi. God didn't kill all of those that sinned. A great many more should have died than the three thousand numbered. God killed off the "ring leaders". Aaron was going by what the people told him to do. It was a excuse but Aaron wasn't trying to be a part of what was going on. If Aaron hadn't of done it, he probably would have been killed and someone else would have done it.

Exo 32:35  Then the LORD sent a plague on the people, because they made the calf, the one that Aaron made.

What about the plague? Its rather clear why God sent the plaque. There isn't any talk of how they "worshiped..... worship".

I seem to remember Someone stating "...they that worship Him [God] must worship Him in spirit and in truth."

That would certainly be a good way to assess things.

What does that have to do with a particular genre of music?

Have you got a exclusive on worshiping God in spirit and truth?

So if I am understanding some of you correctly, the children of Israel would have been ok if there wouldn't have been no cow constructed?

So they could've done all that they did and still been ok with God as long as they would've kept the cow out of the picture?

Nope. If their false god was a monkey, a tree, capitalism, a cause or even their family, it would still a false god.

Well. The "naked" part is a KJV error. In fact, the Old Greek text doesn't even imply they were being reckless.

Maybe you should read the little book of Jude.

Now I want to remind you, though you know all these things: The Lord first saved a people out of Egypt and later destroyed those who did not believe;

Or maybe Moses....

And he said, I will hide my face from them, I will see what their end shall be: for they are a very froward generation, children in whom is no faith.

Unbelief was their biggest problem. Its always been man's biggest problem.

Or even a building, or a particular translation.  Still a false god.

Calm down; I was answering the question (which I quoted): Does God care how we worship Him?

You've made it clear before that you're against certain genre of music. I was taking your comments in context of what you've said before.

Fair enough, but this time, I was merely answering the question, that yes, God does care how He is worshipped, according to Jesus.

The "in truth" is relatively easy: if a church believes that a song is teaching something that the church believes is against its doctrine, than it shouldn't use that song.  I think many posters have  agreed to this position, but how well people really follow this rule, especially with older, traditional hymns has been questioned.

However, my answer was not really an attempt to justify my belief in music -- I was just answering the question.
