I'm refefrring to the vein that insists that the Pope is cool cuz they once went on a holiday amongst some Catholics and never themselves suffered any bodily harm.

I am with ya.

A pretty good comparable to Rome might be China. Anywhere information gets out, they tend to cool it down and make it palatable, but in areas where social media is less prevalent, or they can at least control the flow of information, problems abound.

I find it totally naive to think that with the place the pope holds in Catholocism that things happen without his knowledge or approval. He knows, and he approves. The public eye is much more prevalent than 500 years ago, but the RC church hasn't changed.

OK, I read the links. We appear to have an incident in a podunk town in Mexico and the Pope is apologizing for the polices of the Mussolini govt. That last one was, what 75 years ago? We had probably better raise the prosecution alert to yellow.

Yours. The pope had his friend's legs broken. And for those who haven't had their legs broken? Well, he don't need those stinkin" facts!

Or if they haven't had said legs broken they likely didn't have a "successful ministry."

That appears to be aimed at me. What I saw when I was in both Italy and France was that the general population is pretty much nonreligious. They just don't care. And also, nobody bothered me at all.

Tonight I ate at the local Olive Garden with my daughter. About five minutes after we sat down The hostess seated the local Catholic priest and two of his parishioners right across from us. Father Tommy spoke to me and inquired about my son's progress with college basketball (his high school plays the local Catholic HS). He asked my daughter how she had done with karate this year. I complimented his garden and thanked him for the church's donation of hay to the local equine rescue group  that I represent. He then asked if I handled a particular area of law. When I replied that I did he asked if he could give my name and number to a member of his church that was having a difficulty. I gave him a card and we each went back to ordering supper. When we left we said bye and take care. He didn't try to hit me or anything.

Too bad Ian Paisley was snuffed, he could have fixed this singlehandedly!

"There's a silence in this house today. There's a silence all over Northern Ireland today. There's grieving and there is despair. But behind the despair, there is being born a unity that we haven't seen before... I would like to commend publicly here today the priest of Antrim, the Roman Catholic priest. He made one of the greatest speeches I've ever heard from any of the cloth and he really said in Down to everyone that he did not want in his parish anybody like these men who did this task. And those of us who know Northern Ireland know that it takes some show of strength in a place like Antrim to say those words... We're coming up to St. Patrick's Day. St. Patrick preached the gospel of Jesus Christ in Ireland. And I was just thinking today, the only thing these murderers have done: they have desecrated the shamrock by trying to pour the blood of their innocent victims upon it."
Ian Paisley - Speaking in the House of Commons after the shooting dead of two unarmed British soldiers outside Massereene Barracks in March 2009

Exactly what is it about Chuckbob's "already" that is catholic?  Can an "already" be baptist?  Can an "already" be Lutheran?

Or, did you mean to say "You're"  Catholic already, using a contraction of "you are?"

Where did you get the information that ChuckBob is catholic?  Did he ever state as such?
Lol, thanks for the grammar policing

Yes, "your" (the possessive) should have been "you're" (the contraction)

I inferred it. He seemed to be a fan, so I tried connecting dots.

No, actually I'm Southern Baptist.

By nature of my work as an attorney, and through my children's athletic careers during their HS years, I've met a lot of people in town. Father Tommy was one of them. His church and residence are near my home. I drive by them several times a day. Father Tommy has always treated me with kindness and respect. I have always treated him in a like manner. That's called being a mature adult. I have nothing against the man.

It's amazing that when you stop looking for an Indian behind every bush you come to realize that there aren't nearly as many Indians out there as you were lead to believe. That way you can deal with real threats.

Doesn't work for xer's. Once you meet someone on a human level the walls start to come down. If those walls come down they cease to be the booger man. If that happens then the xer lone survivor mode doesn't work. If it doesn't work then the whole house of cards collapses.

Not unlike truthers, birthers, preppers or anyone who lives with paranoid delusions. The fact that you disagree and provide evidence against the position is twisted as proof that the position is true and the evidence is part of the conspiracy. The one bringing the evidence can then be marginalized as a dupe or a co-conspirator. Hence the accusation that your (sic) Catholic.  ;)
