Wine and alcohol in the Bible

So a priest, a blond and a horse walk into a bar. The bartender says "what is this some sort of a joke"

And the blonde complained of a headache.

That would explain the long face.

I just find it crazy that perhaps Jesus would hand a Bud Lite to a friend and smile.

Me too. The only thing worse than American beer is American light beer.

Jesus, being omniscient, would know this.

You shouldn't confine "American Beer" to "Bud" products. I also agree with something I read one time...

Molson is another word for MORON in Canuck!

If Jesus was going to give American beverages of the adult variety to Peter, it would probably be something like a bourbon or possibly rum.  ;)

The drunkenness of Noah is recorded in the Bible, with that fairness which is found only in the Scripture, as a case and proof of human weakness and imperfection, even though he may have been surprised into the sin; and to show that the best of men cannot stand upright, unless they depend upon Divine grace, and are upheld thereby. Matthew Henry

Luther and Calvin would disagree with Clarke...... And MH is not talking about abstinence here,..

Someone who has never had alcohol before wants to drink wine on his 21st birthday.
How much can he drink before he sins?
(The Bible seems to be clear that getting drunk is a sin.)

So maybe better phrased - "Is it possible to know (having never drank alcohol before) when you have had enough to drink that you haven't yet sinned but to take another drink would be sin?"

Is it possible for someone to get drunk after 1 drink?

Yes. It is possible for someone to get drunk after 1 drink. It depends on what they are drinking and how much is in that "one" drink.

I know you're probably not going to accept this... but here goes.....

"Drunkenness" in the Bible is more of an issue of habitual use than of a "one time event". In other words being a "drunkard" is sinful. Having one drink that may or may not make you intoxicated is really not the point.

Pro 31:6  Give strong drink unto him that is ready to perish, and wine unto those that be of heavy hearts.
Pro 31:7  Let him drink, and forget his poverty, and remember his misery no more.

It isn't American beer that's awful, it's American mass-market beer.

Some American craft brewed beers are as good as any in the world.

For something about as opposite to Bud Lite as you can get, there's Arrogant Bastard Ale by Stone Brewing in CA. But as it says on the label, it's not for everyone. "Go back to your fizzy yellow beer. You are not worthy." Personally, it's one of my favorites, but I don't buy it all the time because it's a little expensive.

Could have said "America" too.

If the lime is mandatory, it's not beer.
