I Cannot Think Of A Thing To Say

I Cannot Think Of A Thing To Say... But Raider is goading us deadbeats. This "deadbeat" label...it's upsetting. I've got red on my ledger and I want it off.

    Lists

Do you live by lists? I know I make lists...things to do, things to remember, etc. Lists help me to be organized. If someone makes a list of what your priorities should be as a Christian, such as: 1) Christ 2) Family 3) Church 4) Unbelievers 5) Work Well, how do you follow a life list like...

    Christian Education

Pastor was out of town this Weds, and we had a speaker who is an expert in the area of Christian Education share his (or rather, The Bible's) philosophy of Christian education. It is hard to recall exact words, and anyone else who was there -- feel free to correct or add to what I am saying...

    So....

So...the gist of our adult SS class lesson yesterday was the need to practice separation from those less spiritual. The illustration was: it is easier for a less-spiritual person to bring you down than it is for you to bring them up to your level. I think this was a JH concept, but truthfully...

    Wonder why...

I wonder why Cindy Schaap was at FBC today? In the morning service, Pastor said, while welcoming visitors, "Nice to see you, Cindy." I thought, Cindy who? And I couldn't see her, so I didn't know for sure. But it was her. Maybe some legal matters? Who knows. Interesting.

    I just cannot resist...

This very odd little bio is what you read when you click on "About The Pastor" at Bill McSpadden's church: He is a soul winner. He is a friend. He is a Bible lover. He is a man of prayer. He is a reader. He is a hunter. He is a scholar. He is a preacher. He is a fun and loving husband and...

    Boys' Club

What is your connotation of the term, "boys' club"? My husband and I were talking....there had been an ugly incident on the softball field during the church men's league over the weekend...one foul-mouthed individual was graphically vulgar about another man's wife...a punch was thrown, and...

    Music

May is Music Month at our church, and we are learning the principles of godly music.  We are taught that singers should do what they do to glorify God and not to be carnal. Fair enough, of course I agree! Singers are taught that what is godly is to stand stock-still when they sing. They are...

    Ladies Conference

Had a free moment or two....tuned in to check out the Ladies' Conference going on this moment. Loretta Walker was speaking that we need a "God Loves Me" sign, and a journal to keep 'sightings' in. She sells the journals, too, for just $5! Now Belinda Gaona is leading in the singing of silly...

    It's Always Something...

Just when I think things are changing around here, there always seems to be a little something to remind me old ways are pretty deeply ingrained. Just saw a post on FB about Spirit Week at HB schools. The first day, Monday, was Sports Day, and someone posted a picture of their child dressed in...

    new Ass't Pastor at FBC

It was announced on Facebook today (but not at church yesterday...) that Mark Bosje will be leaving Team Thailand (which will be taken over by a Mr. Shook) and will join the pastoral staff at First Baptist Church, Hammond. He is the missionary most famous for turning his life over to Jack...

    What do you think?

This article came up in my facebook feed and I read it. Something about it bothers me, but I can't put my finger on it and am wondering if for some as-yet-undetermined reason, I seem to have a chip on my shoulder.. http://caryschmidt.com/2013/02/five-ministries-that-kill-real-ministry/

    Tune in Wednesday for...

This coming Wednesday, January 29th, the speaker for the evening at FBC Hammond, in the absence of Pastor Wilkerson, will be Jack Mitchell. Don't know what to say about that...might have more to say after the fact.
