...and whose "job is to help provide excellent biblical, singable, and affordable music to choir directors and worship leaders."

The title is a little exaggerated - "Critical importance" - meh.

I don't like choirs, but if you do, have at it. I won't criticize you for your preference.

For a long time English Baptists didn't even sing. It all started when they were hiding from persecutors in England - if they sang they would have been discovered. It eventually became a habit and even forbidden when they had some liberty. I bet they understood "Singing with grace in your hearts" better than anyone. Choirs are great but essential? No. Grace in your heart is essential. Being Spirit filled is essential.

One congregation of English Baptists , around Bunyan's day, was invited to assemble with the Presbyterians in the same village.
The Baptists were outraged that they were asked to remove their hats, and at the choir, both of which they considered papist.
Needless to say, it didn't last one service.

I thought the Baptist’s brought their drum set and the Presbyterians brought their cajón and they couldn’t play together.

I don't believe that they are "critical", but I do think that they are good to have; I generally agree with the reasons cited in the article.
