    Is IFB a cult?

hello everyone long time no see. IS IFB a CULT? NO... Cultic instances, definitely. Cult, in my opinion, goes beyond doctrine, When you make a distinction between "cult" and "cultic" there is no intersect at doctrine because "cultic" has to do withy just about everything except for doctrine...

your thoughts on the Independent Baptist movement

I'd say what was said above.... the man centered groups have to fold..and i believe they are. Aside from that, I wouldn't say decline.. probably stable. Many of the man-centered groups have churches under their umbrella that are not so far gone...a little tweaking and they'd be ok. In my...

    Faith Promise Anyone

they gave us a card to fill out and make a vow. I wrote.. i am self employed, i will give what i can, when i can. I am sure they knew it was I who put that card in the offering plate. i have an idea..how about dropping the annual anniversary and birthday gift for the pastor..(in my church.. a...

Opinion piece about pastors withholding truth

Exactly...they never get to the deeper points of what it is all about anyway. A young seminary student wrote a blistering critique of the "religion" his parents handed down to him, said he was sold a package of lies.. but.. of course, he isnt going to get into it all. they never do.

I guess the Gothard movement has died

Thats a start... down here..for educational purposes we use some initialized signs. ASL.... ..looking at about a 12,000 word vocabulary. and you would be surprised how few of those 12,000 words we actually use. I go all over the south and southeast and see signs I havent seen in 20 years.

I guess the Gothard movement has died

Ahh... S.E.E.    one of my seminary interpreters was S.E.E. and it gave me a headache..all those initialized signs... she even signed "need" with an "N" and "must" with an "M". I wanted to jump through the ceiling. I am Deaf from Deaf family. I am the only one really Deaf-cultured, the others...

I guess the Gothard movement has died

Just to clarify, I mean no disrespect to those who were involved in that group. All of them that I knew personally were good folks with good intentions.

I guess the Gothard movement has died

Years ago, here in New Orleans, there was a healthy number of families from SBC, Assemblies of God and Non-Denom who were faithful in attending all those meetings they had. I lost contact with just about all of them but was in Tickfaw not long ago and sat down with one of the more faithful...

Is questioning the practice speaking in tongues blasphemy?

Two things...they say it is blasphemy and some, like the UPC folks believe evidence of the baptism is speaking in tongues...some trinitarian charismatics also believe it (acts 2:38, etc)

    Church-less Christians

thanks for responding.. I was trying to find out how people felt about meeting Christians who do not believe in attending church at all...or, they are at least content with not attending, even though they would attend if they could find one to their liking. If one does NOT attend church, are...
